Today we’d like to introduce you to Krizia Cruz.
Hi Krizia, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I got my start in the beautiful city of Orlando, Florida. I went to UCF and graduated from Radio/TV Journalism. Shortly after graduating, I moved on to becoming a breaking news reporter at a local Spanish TV Station. After getting my feet wet in smaller market, I got the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a reporter in NYC. a dream comes true! I knew I eventually wanted to have more work/life balance to focus on things I love while also being creative so that actually marked my last on-air job.
Shortly after I moved to LA, where I knew I could hone in on my creativity and find a new path. I did just that. A year after living here, I was able to land production jobs on some of the best shows! Some of my highlights include working on Face to Face with Becky G and HGTV’s My Lottery Dream Home.
Most recently, I worked as a producer on a pilot for an architectural design show. I’m a storyteller, a creative at heart, and a journalist by trade, so I love doing things that make my passions collide.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road. One of my favorite quotes is “nothing worth it comes easy” and I believe this perfectly sums up my career path. I’ve faced fear, rejection, doubt, and all of the negative feelings that come with venturing into a new path, new city, and new role but it is true what they say “Jump and the net will appear!” You really can’t give up because what is the other option?
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I wake up every day excited to get to work! I love being able to be creative and put my vision to work. The initial reason I became a journalist is to tell stories and that is still at the core of what I do. My current role involves creative direction and production in all aspects ranging from video, photos, content, writing, and all creative assets for the company. It comes with a lot of challenges because creativity doesn’t always come easy but the end result is always worth it.
