Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Reese.
Hi Kyle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my life just like anyone. Confused with no idea of where I was headed. I was raised by my grandmother and aunt since both of my parents were out of the picture (mother deceased, father married elsewhere). Although I had a pretty big family, I often felt like I was alone with nothing of my own except my ability to draw and paint. I dabbled in almost every form of art to try and see what fit me the best. I decided to leave home (Chicago) at the age of 18 alone so that I can build a life of my own and figure myself out from scratch. I attended Full Sail University where I got my bachelors in digital art and design and where I discovered what I wanted to do career-wise. I’m currently working as an Artist/creative producer at WKMG news 6 while pursuing other creative outlets.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Some of the struggles I had to get through were the passing of my father during my first year of college which was something I had to go through alone. I sort of shoved all of that sadness down so that I can keep moving forward and finish school which I graduated as the valedictorian of my class. I also got fired from my first career job due to my then boss’s prejudice.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a full-time creative producer at news 6. There I produce promos for newscasts and events as well as graphic design and motion graphics. I specialize in painting it’s where I started creative-wise. I’m also a photographer and tattoo artist. I know it’s a lot but I managed to make it all work!
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory was when my mom took me for a ride to get ice cream and McDonald’s. My brother were playing and we’re making fun of me so my mom and I had a little date. It’s the last good memory I have of her when it was just the two of us.
