Today we’d like to introduce you to Lamar Burrows
Hi Lamar, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in New York City. Inspired by street art, flashing lights, urban vibes, and the fast paced way of life, I decided to study graphic design and photography.
I attended Art & Design High school and then later attended The Art Institute of New York City. It was then when I fell in love with capturing life’s precious moments. The exciting ones, the subtle ones, and everything in between. I took a break from photography for about 14 years as life started to hit me. I got married and had 2 beautiful children so with the cost of living in New York i had to work and put art to the side.
When i moved to Florida my relationship with God grew and my passion did as well. My pastors saw something in me not knowing anything about my past and history with media. As they needed help in their ministry they felt that i could help them in their media department. I agreed and from there, my spark for photography came back to life! God has further opened my heart to capture and document His intricately crafted moments. It is my privilege and honor to be able to capture and preserve these moments, emotions, stories!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
while in NY, in the beginning it was all fun then life hit me and i had to take a break from photography. 14 years to be exact.
up until a year ago, through the favor of God things have resurged and i picked it back up with more clients than i ever had before
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
95% photographer and i dabble a little in videography as well which is the other 5%
i specialize in capturing authentic and candid moments. weddings, family, maternity, portraits.
but people love when i venture out and do passion projects which i call “the series”. these projects are my interpretation of people in their element where i tell their story through photos and words. and also the new “bible series” where we recreate bible stories thru still images and voice over work
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
God and my Lord Jesus Christ is my center. he is the reason i am where i am today. and my family. my beautiful wife of 11 years and my two children
