Meet Latoya Rattery of Bold University

Today we’d like to introduce you to Latoya Rattery.

Hi Latoya, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I know what it feels like to ride the rollercoaster of hustle and burnout… never feeling the fun and freedom life offers. As I continued on my transformation journey, I realized that I was unhappy with my life because I wasn’t properly managing my time nor had a lifestyle formula. I decided to pray, plan, produce, and pause to break the “hustle” pattern.

Self-leadership would be the first step in reversing the “hustle pattern.” Throughout our careers, we’ve learned the art of leadership. We must remember that self-leadership is not a corporate responsibility, but rather a personal responsibility.

“Wellness is the result of personal initiative, seeking a more optimal, holistic and balanced state of health and well-being across multiple dimensions.”

~ John Valenty

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My experience with work burnout went into three phases that began to manifest physically, mentally, and emotionally. I recall getting up off the ground and saying these words “not on my watch”. This was the end of the hustle and bustle of life. I realized if change is going to occur – it must start with me.

I became bold and unapologetic about pursuing healing from the inside out. I started counseling and went on a weight loss journey, losing over 50 lbs! We must ask ourselves, “Does my daily routine promote or increase my value or worth?”

A career pathway is not only about checkboxes and credentials; it’s also about professional wellness. There’s a correlation between work and an individual’s overall well-being. We must equip, empower, and enrich ourselves by having a lifestyle system to leverage our workloads.

I was forced to resign from a job that was jeopardizing my health. About 41% of people who work 50-plus hours a week reported that their companies don’t address burnout. Of those reported, 36% didn’t know that wellness programs were offered.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Bold University is a faith-based lifestyle and business network for women. Our multidisciplinary wellness and business community provide lifestyle, business, spiritual empowerment, and leadership coaching to improve professional women in life and business.

What matters most to you?
We can’t wait for an illness to start seeing a doctor. As work-related stress rises, it can reduce productivity, energy, and happiness. To understand and recognize workplace burnout, we must be aware of the signs and symptoms. It is essential that we “own our wellness”.

I’ve developed a solution to identify stress. It’s called the Bold Formula. This is a lifestyle and wellness management system that helps professional and executive women design success-driven life maps to improve the way they live and work.

Today, I am on a mission to help reshape the culture of workplaces and to help women in leadership future-proof their health and well-being.
