Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Leandra.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We started our creative careers in 2009 in Honolulu Hawaii. In Hawaii, we decided to use that vast selection of landscapes and scenery to further expand our portfolio. As the video side of creativity grew and cameras became more affordable, we then decided to balance our time and efforts with both photography and video equally. After we were more comfortable with our photography and video skills, We then began to challenge our skills up against other creators by way of local photo and video contests. We used earnings from these competitions to invest in our business and to help in obtaining higher quality tools. Now in 2021, we still have found this formula effective while having the opportunity to work with local small businesses, non-profits, and major brands.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Overall the road to where we are was smooth, but there have been obstacles that we’ve had to address along the way. For example, after leaving Hawaii, we decided that Florida would be our next place to call home. We chose Orlando as our next destination because of its diversity. We had to deal not only with the change in environment and culture but also building clients and advertising our services from scratch. This alone required a ton of patience and gave us a good lesson on the highs and lows of being a full-time creator. From down-sizing to accepting projects at lower than typical rates, the struggle felt overwhelming in phases but ultimately encouraged us to try that much harder.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My husband and I are both producers with a specialization in both photography and video. We are most proud of our work in food, product, lifestyle, and documentary productions. We concentrate most of our efforts weekly by creating custom content for major brands. This allows us the funding to take on independent projects that we use to expand on our own creative energy. We also enjoy helping rising artists and entrepreneurs by assisting them in all their content needs. What sets us apart from others is our continuous drive to be better along with our determination to take our experience and talents to another level.
Any big plans?
We plan on expanding our team in the future, with the hopes of earning more opportunities to display what we’ve learned over the past ten years. This includes increasing our professional resources, expanding our portfolio and skillsets while also bringing in more lines of revenue to support our dreams and endeavors. The better we perform individually, the more opportunities we are able to provide many of the local artists in Florida who are seeking a way to juggle full-time jobs and the art forms they love the most.
