Today we’d like to introduce you to Liandrea Houston.
Hi Liandrea, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my event business in 2016 after briefly managing a venue that my family owned. Prior to managing the venue I was already doing events for family and friends. I also owned and still to this day own my first business, which is a group home for individuals with intellectual disabilities. I knew I had a gift in designing events and this was something special that I wanted to go further with. After relocating to Orlando in 2017.I decided to take my business to the next level. Orlando was a vibrant city filled with opportunities and a diverse clientele looking for unique event experiences. I knew this was my chance to establish my brand and reach a wider audience. In 2019 I took the leap to become an accredited event designer.
Initially, I faced challenges, such as building a new network and understanding the local market. However, I embraced these challenges as learning experiences. I attended networking events, collaborated with local vendors, and immersed myself in the community. This not only helped me gain exposure but also allowed me to refine my skills and expand my creative offerings.
With each event I decorated, I poured my heart and soul into my work. I focused on creating personalized experiences that reflected my clients’ visions. Word spread quickly, and soon I was receiving referrals from satisfied clients. It was rewarding to see my passion for decor translate into a successful business.
In 2023, I opened my creative space in Altamonte Springs which allowed me to share the space with other creatives such as photographers, content creators, & other designers. I also started offering classes to aspiring event designers to learn how to get started in their business. I do freelance floral designing and we’ve expanded to offering luxury event rentals.
Fast forward to today, I am proud to say that my business has grown beyond my wildest dreams. I have had the privilege of working on countless beautiful events. Each project is a unique opportunity for me to express my creativity and bring joy to my clients. I pride myself and offering luxury baby showers and over the top kids parties. I love to partner with moms and moms to be!
Looking back, I am grateful for the journey that brought me to this point. The ups and downs have shaped me into the business owner I am today. I am excited for what the future holds and look forward to continuing to create memorable experiences for my clients while inspiring others to follow their entrepreneurial dreams.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being an entrepreneur has never been a smooth road. There are many struggles and challenges involved, especially in a service based business. However, the key is to keep going, especially if you believe in your craft and the services you’re offering.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a creative. I am an event designer. I am a floral designer. I specialize in creating luxury baby showers and over the top kids parties. I am most proud of the growth of my business over the years. I think what set me apart from others is my mindset. My ability to know that I am in my own lane. I don’t compare myself to anyone and I do what’s best for me.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Having an event is a luxury. I think Events are something that’s never going to go away. People love celebrations, people love to party and I love to make it happen for them.
