Meet Linette Fernandez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Linette Fernandez.

Hi Linette, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have crocheted ever since I was a little girl. I started off by simply watching my mother and grandmother crochet and sew and soon started to practice myself. I had known how to crochet for some time, but during the quarantine, I decided to pick back up my crochet hook and some yarn and make something for fun. I started making many fun items and quickly remembered how much I loved it. A few weeks later, I realized that I could make this into a business since I had always enjoyed crocheting and had an ability to make new and unique items. I then started my page, linettes_boutique on Instagram. I quickly started to make and publish many different items as they would come to my head. With some time, my follower audience grew and I started to get more and more orders per week. I know have a consistent flow of orders and am able to make one of my hobbies into my personal business and am beyond grateful to be able to do so.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a completely smooth road. With life comes many obstacles and being in the middle of a world pandemic did not help the situation. Aside from covid-19, it has been a task to be able to juggle being a full-time health science student in college, working full time, and my personal business. Time management has been a learning curve for me and I have been able to learn from previous mistakes to ensure a balance in all things in life. My business is a top priority for me and has been my baby which has motivated me to continue and push with my ideas and creations.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I currently specialize in crocheting. I crochet anything you can really ting of and have made so many different unique pieces. I am most known for my stuffed animals and characters and the bralettes I have made. What sets me apart from others is my drive and motivation. I have always had an inner drive to do more with my life and have always known I was different from the rest. Although I am a very much people-person, I have never allowed myself to be like the group and ensured I do my best to progress individually in all aspects; especially with my own business.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
I would definitely say never give up. The hardest days and weeks will be the most memorable and character-building for you and your business.
