Today we’d like to introduce you to Luis Morales.
Luis Morales was born in Brooklyn, New York. The USA He grew up in Sunset Park-Brooklyn and then his parents moved to Williamsburg-Brooklyn when he was in his teens. His mother is from Cabo Rojo-Puerto Rico and his Dad is from Vieques-Puerto Rico. His parents met in New York City, where they raised four boys and a girl. Luis worked in the Jewelry business when he lived in New York City for top designers. He loves to wear chains and bracelets in social scenes and got tired of the same old styles available. He noticed that there were not enough affordable modern men’s jewelry options available. He decided to supply the demand for men’s jewelry that is versatile, unique, and modern.
In 2015, Luis Morales, a single dad living in Tampa, Florida, decided to begin his own line of men’s jewelry and called it “Papiichulo” In Spanish, “Papi Chulo” means a handsome man. Papiichulo’s culture is “Pride and Confidence,” A representation of a handsome modern man who is proud of his faith, country, family and unique style. A man that is confident that nobody can be exactly like him and appreciates taking good care of his appearance. The reason why Papiichulo has two ii’s is that Luis Morales lived in New York City and worked near the World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001. He wanted to honor and pay his respect to all of our American brothers and sisters that we lost on that day.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Every day is a struggle as an entrepreneur. I’m always trying to think out of the box and I am always trying spread the word of my line and creative ways to introduce new designs.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I like to create fresh and affordable designs for Latino men to wear on a casual night out with friends and family. I choose to start making my line in Stainless Steel because it’s affordable and durable. Impact your style with a bold design that will evolve your confidence and project your “Papi Chulo” “Stamina” I want my designs to attract compliments, attention and admiration when being worn. For example, if someone is wearing one my collection pieces and people start to tell them, “Nice chain, cool bracelet, shout out Wepa Boricua! or even ask them where did you get that?” I would feel that my purpose and vision is definitely becoming a reality. As a designer, I take so much joy in seeing men wearing my designs with such pride and confidence. I love getting emails, posts and pictures from people who received one as a gift or have just received their order and are in love with it. It is very rewarding and keeps me focused on growing my collection. I personally ship out all my orders and I love to see where they are shipping too. Knowing that my culture is all over the nation is also beautiful to see.
Can you talk about how you think about risk?
I’m not a risk-taker I think with the right idea, faith and hard work, you are potentially capable of doing anything.
