Today we’d like to introduce you to Mallorie Wright
Hi Mallorie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey began during a challenging time when my twins were in the NICU. It was a whirlwind of emotions, and I found myself in need of a happy outlet to cope with the stress. That’s when I started crafting knotbands—something simple that brought me joy and a sense of purpose.
When COVID hit, I decided to share my creations online, and to my surprise, my little shop exploded! The support from the community was incredible, and it motivated me to expand beyond just headbands. I began incorporating my love for Disney into my designs, creating a range of products from tees to accessories that reflect that whimsical spirit.
Today, my shop is a vibrant celebration of creativity and joy, offering a huge variety of items that not only resonate with fellow Disney fans but also bring a little happiness into everyday life. It’s been an amazing journey, and I’m so grateful for everyone who has supported me along the way.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but every bump has taught me something valuable. One of the biggest challenges was sourcing the exact materials and fabrics I envisioned for my designs. I quickly realized that the perfect fabric wasn’t always available, which forced me to tap into my creative side even more. I learned how to create my own fabric designs and collaborated with companies that could help bring my ideas to life, which was both a learning curve and an exciting journey.
Another hurdle has been gauging the popularity of different products. It’s a bit of a guessing game at times! Some items just fly off the shelves, and I often find myself scrambling to restock because I can’t keep up with demand. It’s a great problem to have, but it also means I have to keep my finger on the pulse of what my customers love and be proactive about production.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in creating Disney-themed items that are not only fun but also carry a personal touch. My primary offerings include knotbands and tees, which have become crowd favorites, but I’m excited to see hair bows and claw clips gaining popularity as well. The whimsical and vibrant designs really resonate with fellow Disney fans!
What truly sets my shop apart is the built-in artistry that comes from my daughter. She’s an incredibly talented artist, and whenever I have a design in mind that I can’t bring to life myself, I turn to her for help. Collaborating with her not only brings fresh creativity to my products but also strengthens the bond between us. It makes each piece feel even more special, knowing it’s a product of our shared passion for creativity and Disney magic.
I’m most proud of the resilience I’ve shown in keeping the shop going through various challenges—whether it’s military moves, the pandemic, or balancing my time with full-time teaching. Every uprooting has tested my adaptability, but it’s also pushed me to innovate and find new ways to connect with my customers. I’m grateful for the community that has supported me through it all, and I feel a sense of accomplishment in creating a business that continues to thrive despite the obstacles. It’s a testament to the love and passion I pour into my work every day!
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
To fuel my creativity, I love binge-watching Disney movies for their joy and nostalgia, while shows like Gilmore Girls inspire me with their witty dialogue and strong female relationships. I also enjoy musicals, especially Hadestown and Wicked, which reignite my passion for creativity.
