Meet Maria DeVivo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria DeVivo.

Maria, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always been a writer. Ever since I could pick up a crayon and scribble, I would always tell stories any way I could.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has NOT been a smooth road! In this industry, there’s a lot of rejection and sometimes negativity, and it can be hard to overcome that, especially when you put so much of yourself into your creative endeavors. But I always say, if you want something bad enough, a little struggle isn’t going to kill you!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an author of dark fantasy and horror novels. I have 4 very distinct series that range from YA to afult content. I specialize in the weird stuff and would say that people know me mostly for my ability to subvert expectations. I like to take familiar ideas and warp them into something different. I want to make my readers comfortable and then jar them out of their senses.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I love bowling, Strawberry Shortcake, He-Man, and anything 80s nostalgia. Weird, right?
