Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Stephenson
Hi Matthew, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey began back in 2018 when I watched “The Secret” on Netflix. I sat there in awe of everything it presented, especially the idea of putting your mind to something and making it a reality. I enjoyed it so much that I took the next day off work and watched it three more times. After that, I started searching Google and YouTube for more information about manifestation and the law of attraction, eager to learn how I could manifest my dreams. As I began applying the techniques I learned, I noticed big shifts in my life. Job promotions started coming my way, more money flowed in, and I found more opportunities for love. Overall, I felt happier than ever before.
Soon, I stumbled upon people on YouTube sharing their experiences and teaching manifestation techniques. I thought, “That’s exactly what I want to do too! I want to help others change their lives!” However, it took me a while to get started because I was working a full-time job and had a lot going on. Filming videos and creating content wasn’t easy to fit in.
When COVID hit in 2020, I was laid off from my job but received a decent severance package. I realized I had at least four months where I didn’t have to worry about work, so I decided to dedicate my time and energy to making YouTube content about manifestation. I started my channel called Manifest with Matt and began posting a video every day in September 2020, sharing what I knew to help others. By February 2021, I had over 1,000 subscribers and was making enough money to cover my bills without needing another job.
I kept posting daily throughout 2021, and by mid-2022, I had nearly 50,000 subscribers. By 2023, I reached 100,000 subscribers, and by 2024, I had over 1 million subscribers. It still feels very surreal!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey has definitely had its ups and downs, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! With any type of social media, growth isn’t always a straight path.
There are lots of highs and definitely plenty of lows. I’ve had times when I’ve posted a ton of content, worked hard, and didn’t get the results I hoped for. I’ve also launched courses, put in a lot of effort, and ended up with just one or two sales.
It’s easy to feel discouraged along the way. But the key was to never give up and stay consistent no matter what.
In tough times, there was a quote from Elon Musk that always stood out at me: “If something is important enough, you should try even if the probable outcome is failure.”
So, even when I felt like I might fail, I stayed consistent and kept publishing content because I was truly passionate about helping people.
With enough consistency, I pushed through those low moments, and it really paid off! I’m so glad I didn’t quit!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc
Basically, I’m a content creator focused on manifestation, mindset, motivation, and personal development. I have a YouTube channel called “Manifest with Matt” with over 1 million subscribers. I also post shorter content on Instagram and TikTok, and I recently launched a podcast! Plus, I have an amazing online community called Manifestation Skool. It’s a free space where you can join, ask questions, get help, and receive insights from like-minded individuals. Together, we can help each other reach our dreams and level up!
What are you most proud of?
What I’m most proud of is waking up and doing what I love every day—helping people! I get to assist them in overcoming obstacles, leveling up their lives, and just overall helping them live a much happier life. At the end of the day, that’s what we’re all seeking. The true measure of success in life is the amount of joy you feel!
A personal accomplishment I’m really proud of is that, as a kid, I always told my parents I wanted a job where I didn’t have to go to an office. Back in the ’90s, they laughed because everyone had to go to work somewhere. There was no internet or remote work. But somehow, I just knew I’d make it happen. And now, I’m living that dream, like I really manifested it!
What sets you apart from others?
I think what sets me apart is that I don’t try to be someone I’m not. You often see people trying to imitate others or be better than someone else. That’s not me. I share what I know and stay true to myself. Early in my journey, I came across a quote by Oscar Wilde: “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” That quote was a game-changer for me. It took away a lot of stress because I realized I don’t have to try to be like anyone else. I can just be me, and people will resonate with that. And that’s exactly what has happened.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
For me, mentors have come in all sorts of ways! I’ve never actually met with a mentor in person. Instead, all my mentors are different entrepreneurs I’ve found online, read their books, and followed their content. Take Elon Musk, for example. He’s been a big influence on me, showing that you shouldn’t be afraid to work hard for your dreams, even if people don’t get it or think you’re a bit crazy! Arnold Schwarzenegger is another one. His speeches on hard work, staying organized, and rising to the occasion, even when no one believes in you, have really resonated with me!
But I have to say, my biggest mentor in terms of growing my YouTube business has been a guy named Master Sri Akarshana. I’ve never met him or chatted with him. But early on, I learned a saying: “Success leaves clues.” So, I looked at who was already successful and modeled them. He was someone I watched closely. I studied his content, how he did things, and how he sold his courses and coaching. Eventually, I invested in his YouTube Growth course and followed his advice to the letter. That’s when I started seeing big results—my view count and subscriber numbers really took off, and my life started to change! I owe so much to him, and he doesn’t even know it!
