Meet Mayeling Angelastro of Maye Angel & Associates

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mayeling Angelastro.

Mayeling, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my career as a community child therapist working as a liaison for underprivileged families. After many years working with families I wanted to explore the private practice industry. After relocating from Denver, CO, I researched on the internet for places I felt would be a good fit for me. I remember my interview with the owner of a group private practice in Central Florida.

He mentioned how it is unlikely for a registered mental health counselor intern to reach the top tier rate in this industry. And I remember it like it was yesterday, I immediately said to myself; “watch me make it there is very little time”. I worked so hard and made it a point to connect with my clients and give them my best to help them navigate their journey. I became one of the most sought-after therapists in the company and therefore reached my goal in a small amount of time.

Once I got licensed, I was ready to start my own practice. I was afraid and had very low self-confidence despite my accomplishments. I wanted to see what else I was capable of. I yearned for my personalized space and entrepreneurship. I decided to take a leap of faith and rented my first office big enough for just me. I continued networking in the community and connecting with others making a difference in small communities. In just a year, the company grew beyond my expectations!!!

I found myself with multiple therapists working with me and requiring a bigger space for expansion. Today, I am the owner of Maye Angel & Associates. A counseling center for children, families, individuals, and couples to find their truth and embrace their journey while healing their pain. I also supervise and train master-level therapists on how to embark on their journey through this rewarding industry of helping others.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest challenge was my self-doubt. I was a prisoner of false beliefs. I was afraid of being on my own and failing.

I was afraid of not having control. I was also highly discouraged by other professionals. I refused to listen to all the negativity coming from me and others. I focused on surrounding with positive businessmen and women who believed in me and encouraged me to move forward,

This is how I learned that failure was just another way of learning and I was okay with that.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest advice is to find a positive and like-minded mentor.

This is not a business coach nor a life coach but a person that has been through a similar journey as yourself. Sometimes we believe that we are alone in our path and we do not realize the multitude of success stories out there. Find one that aligns with what you want to do and watch how it positively impacts your growth.
