Meet Megan Wells of Wishing Wells Academy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Wells.

Hi Megan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always known I wanted to work with children. Even as a young child, I would play ‘classroom’ with my younger siblings and dream of becoming a kindergarten teacher. After high school, I began working at my first childcare center to stay on track with that goal—and I absolutely fell in love. I learned so much during that time, and it shaped me in ways I’m forever grateful for. That first center set the standard for what quality care and genuine connection should look like, and honestly, no other center I worked at after that ever compared.

From the very beginning, I knew early childhood education was my calling. I quickly realized that I enjoyed working with the younger ages most—their curiosity, growth, and need for nurturing spoke to me in a way I hadn’t expected. It wasn’t long before I no longer wanted to become a kindergarten teacher—I had found my place in early childhood and knew that’s where I was meant to stay.

After having my first baby, I took a year off to be home with her, but returned to childcare when she turned one. I moved from center to center, hoping to find that same standard of care and passion I had experienced at the beginning of my career but it was never quite the same. Many centers didn’t align with my values or the level of love and respect I believe every child and family deserves.

That’s when I knew it was time to finally pursue my dream. I wanted to create a space where children are not only cared for, but truly loved and supported, where passion leads the way. That vision brought me to Wishing Wells Academy.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but every challenge pushed me closer to my dream. I had lots of experience in the classroom and as a lead teacher, but I’d never directed a center. I found the building I loved before I even had the proper credentials. To become director of my center, I had to complete my CDA and director credentials quickly while babysitting during the day, studying at night, and caring for my newborn son.

Even after opening, enrollments were slow. I kept babysitting on nights and weekends and DoorDashing when I could, all to keep the business going. It was hard being away from my two kids, but my husband was always supportive and by my side. It took sacrifice, but I believed in what I was building.

Even with all my classroom experience, I quickly realized how little I actually knew about running a center. There’s so much more to it than just loving kids and creating a great learning environment. I’m incredibly grateful for my friend whom I met at one of my past centers who not only mentored me, but truly believed in me. Her support, encouragement, and willingness to share her knowledge made such a difference during a time when I felt in over my head. Having someone like that in my corner gave me the confidence to keep going.

We’ve been impressed with Wishing Wells Academy, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Wishing Wells Academy is more than just a childcare center, it’s a place where children are truly loved, seen, and supported. We focus on the whole child, not just academics. While we do offer an engaging curriculum that supports early learning and development, our biggest focus is making sure every child feels safe, valued, and nurtured like they’re part of a family.

We specialize in providing high-quality care in a warm, home-like environment. What sets us apart is the genuine passion behind everything we do. This isn’t just a job, this is my heart, my dream, and my purpose. Every detail has been built with love and intention, from the routines and activities to the relationships we build with each family.

A huge part of what makes Wishing Wells so special is our team. Our teachers aren’t just staff, they’re family. Each one plays a vital role in creating the loving, supportive environment we’re known for. They show up every day with heart, patience, and dedication, treating every child with the same care and respect they would give their own. Their commitment to our shared vision is what brings our values to life in every classroom, every moment.

What I’m most proud of, brand-wise, is the trust we’ve built. Families know that Wishing Wells Academy isn’t just a daycare—it’s a second home. My goal is to raise the standard for early childhood care and show that centers can be both structured and deeply loving.
