Today we’d like to introduce you to Melanni Hernandez and Sean Sciortino.

Hi Melanni and Sean, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.

When the world came to a standstill in 2020, the floral industry, like many others was hit hard. Global supply chains collapsed, flower farms struggled, and florists across the country faced serious challenges sourcing fresh, quality products.
It was in the middle of that storm that Floristcentric took root. Born in Orlando, Florida, our founders saw more than just a crisis, they saw an opportunity to serve. An opportunity to create a solution for florists and floral professionals who needed a reliable, consistent, and passionate partner in sourcing flowers.
From day one, our mission has been clear:

Is very important to mention that Floristcentric was founded in 2020 for Sean Sciortino and Melanni Hernandez, as local and family owned wholesale florist. With very strong values and good family environment for all our customers and employees.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Our story, like so many others is one about overcoming adversity on a daily basis. Sometimes the issues are logistical (will the product make it on time?) , or floral (Is it the correct color, height, quality?), Sometimes they are mechanical (The label printer isn’t working!). Each challenge presents an opportunity for growth. both for our customers and for us. Through the dedicated support of our customers and consistent quality and diligence of our vendors, we continue to find new approaches to serving the floral industry.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
We’ve never thought of ourselves as risk takers. However, starting a business at the very beginning of Covid was probably not the most secure endeavor. Certainly, a few banks didn’t think so at the time.
We do think there is an element of risk in everything we do. When a customer requires a certain quantity of flowers that is not equal to the amount necessary for the purchase of the box. We assume the balance of the flowers on speculative sales. This means we don’t know if the remaining bunches will sell. That is one of the functions of a floral wholesaler. The wholesaler is risking the profit from the box on their belief in their customers.
