Today we’d like to introduce you to Melyssa Meinert.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always been a plant person, but earlier this year in April 2024 I took the plunge to turn my love for plants into something more! I was seeing a lot of jewelry charm bars pop up and thought to myself, “why not a terrarium bar?”, and things kind of started falling into place from there. I’m also a floral designer so adding premade terrariums, dried floral bar, and dried floral arrangements just kind of made sense! We’ve been attending vendor markets since April and are starting to host private workshop events in Deland. We hope to one day have a small shop of our own, but in the meantime we really enjoy connecting with our community!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a struggle to find our ideal clientele at the markets we’ve attended. We’re finally starting to find our people and communities and it’s made such a big difference!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our specialty is our Terrarium Bar where you can build your very own plant baby! You can choose your vessel, plant (real or fake), and various decor options to create your very own terrarium. We also have premade terrariums, as well as succulents, plants, a dried flower bar, and plant accessories. What sets us apart is that we’re not just a plant shop, we’re a plant experience! I am most proud of the joy that we can bring to others with our plants.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I’m new to the Sanford area, but I’m finding so many nature trails and areas that I love! I have to say though, I do miss being so close to the ocean.
