Meet MidaZ The BEAST

Today we’d like to introduce you to MidaZ The BEAST.

Hi MidaZ, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started writing raps as an 11-year-old watching my uncle and cousin freestyle after school. That is where I got the bulk of my hip-hop education. Listening to mixtapes and albums and learning the ins and outs of the culture.

From there, it moved to freestyling and battling other emcees in high school. Traveling around the city to battle different guys from different areas as well. This lead me to the H.U.S.H. show, a weekly show at UCF in the early 2000s where I met, battled, and began working with different artists in the city.

That show was the training ground where I honed my skills to began the elevation into the artist I am now.

I’ve since worked with a who’s who in hip-hop (Planet Asia, Alchemist, Oh No, Marco Polo, Sean Price, Roc Marciano, Talib Kweli, etc.) on both my albums and being featured on theirs.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not. A major struggle is a fact that the music industry doesn’t congregate in Orlando. It’s the same idea as to when people want to be in the movies, they move to LA because that is where the movie industry primarily is.

There is only so much you can do on the internet before traveling to some of the major hubs and showing face. Once I started doing that, things definitely started moving but it took a while to come to that realization.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a hip-hop recording artist, specializing in writing and emceeing. What I’m known for is actually the same thing I’m most proud of, which is how dedicated I am to the art of emceeing. I take my craft seriously and differentiate myself.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck plays a role… but to even access luck, the first thing is putting yourself in harm’s way. Without that luck often won’t activate to even be a factor.
