Meet Milad Elias of Ontime Inspectors

Today we’d like to introduce you to Milad Elias

Hi Milad, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
“I was born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt, and I’ve always had a passion for art. That’s what led me to study at the fine arts school in Luxor. After graduating, I moved to Dubai and worked as a graphic designer in advertising agencies for three years. Then, in 2011, I moved to the U.S. to start fresh and explore new opportunities.

At first, I worked in graphic design, but it was a harsh industry to break into in Florida. After about six years of struggling, I realized I needed a change. That’s when I shifted to the home inspection field, and honestly, it’s been one of the best decisions of my life. I’ve built my business from the ground up, offering everything from complete home inspections to mold assessments and commercial inspections. Over time, I’ve earned certifications as a Master Inspector, Mold Assessor, and even a licensed drone pilot.

I aim to expand the business across Florida, with inspectors in every county. It’s a big dream, but I’m determined to make it happen.

Outside work, I love spending time with my wife, Sara, and our twin daughters, Mia and Tia. It’s been quite a journey, but every step has shaped who I am today.”

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a sloth road at all. There were plenty of struggles along the way. When I first came to the U.S., I spent six tough years trying to establish myself as a graphic designer in Florida. It was a competitive market, and breaking through was harder than I imagined. Eventually, I made the decision to pivot into the home inspection industry—a field I knew nothing about at the time.

Starting from scratch, learning the ropes, and earning the necessary certifications took a lot of effort. It wasn’t just about doing the job but also about building trust and credibility in a field where reputation means everything.

On top of that, moving from Egypt to Dubai and then to the U.S. came with its own set of challenges—adjusting to new cultures, languages, and ways of life wasn’t always easy. And of course, balancing work with family life has been a constant juggling act, especially with raising my twin daughters, Mia and Tia.

But through all that, I’ve stayed focused on growing my business and finding fulfillment in what I do. Each struggle has taught me something and pushed me closer to where I want to be. So, no, it hasn’t been an easy road, but it’s been worth it.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Yes, the COVID-19 pandemic taught me several important lessons that had a lasting impact on how I run and grow my business.

Key Lessons Learned:
    1.    The Importance of Adaptability and Flexibility:
The pandemic emphasized the need to quickly adapt to unexpected circumstances. Whether it was updating our services to meet client needs or embracing new technologies to provide remote solutions, flexibility became a necessity, not an option.
    2.    The Power of Technology:
COVID-19 pushed me to invest more in technology, like using drones for inspections, which reduced the need for physical presence. This not only made operations more efficient but also ensured the safety of both clients and my team.
    3.    The Value of Diversification:
The pandemic highlighted the importance of diversifying income streams and services. We expanded our offerings to include mold assessments and commercial property inspections, which helped sustain the business during uncertain times.
    4.    Realizing What Matters Most:
The challenges of COVID-19 reminded me to focus on delivering value to clients while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, trust, and quality. It also reinforced the importance of building strong relationships with clients and adapting to their evolving needs.

In summary, the pandemic was a wake-up call that reshaped my approach to business, making it more resilient, tech-driven, and client-centered.
