Today we’d like to introduce you to Militza Maury.
Hi Militza, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m a skincare educator, author, and I teach people how to make skincare and create their own skin wellness. Making natural skincare started out of necessity for me, but then became a great passion. Ten years ago, I got into my kitchen and made my first skincare recipe – a Baby Bath Tea for my newborn. What surprised me the most was how empowered I felt. At the time, I wanted to buy natural and organic skincare products for my family, but I couldn’t afford it. Sometimes, in those moments of frustration – you get very creative! I remember holding this expensive baby bath tea product, thinking, “I can’t buy this,” and suddenly, my mind switched to “maybe I can make it!”
Over the years, I taught myself how to make skincare for the whole family. I dove into lots of research, studied herbalism, aromatherapy, skin health. And from everything I learned and experienced – my work today as an educator is rooted in the belief that health and wellness should be accessible for everyone. I love teaching people these recipes and how to create healthy skin with simple, nourishing ingredients.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest struggle was facing my own insecurities. Stepping up to teach required putting myself out there in a way that I’d never done before. But, without realizing it, in making skincare, I had created a powerful wellness practice that built up my confidence. If you can imagine, I nourished myself daily with aromatic oils and herbs. I bathed in coconut milk and scrubbed my body with ground oats and rose petals. My skin felt incredible – and I started to feel incredible too.
There is so much emotion attached to our skin, and too often, it’s a negative experience. But I learned that skincare can be an act of self-love – and that has a way of changing you on the inside. I love sharing with people that our skin is an organ of communication. It’s connected to the nervous system in the body. And so, through your skincare practice, you can soothe stress, build resilience and elevate the way you feel every time you wash your face or take a shower!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m known for my “whole food skincare” recipes. Your skin is your largest organ, and just like every other cell in your body, it needs vitamins and nutrients to thrive. I teach people how to nourish the skin to be healthy, balanced, and vibrant. And to avoid what I call “junk food skincare,” the stuff made with additives, dyes, and fragrances that can cause a lot of imbalances.
A lot of people don’t know where to begin. We weren’t taught how to understand our own skin and its needs. So I teach online classes about skin health, creating skincare routines, and of course, the recipes too! I’m proud to be a teacher, to help people learn how to connect with their own bodies. We’re all different – and so the most important thing is to discover what you need to feel your own best. I’m here to tell you that you can do this for yourself!
So many of my students with eczema or acne felt frustrated, they tried every product under the sun and nothing worked. And I love when I get emails about how much their skin has transformed – just by simplifying and learning how to nourish their own skin. That lights me up so much!
