Today we’d like to introduce you to Moly Gomez.
Hi Moly, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Creativity is one of the most sincere expressions of love. With this thought in mind, I would love to introduce myself. My name is Nohely, but everyone has called me Moly since I was a child. I am a Venezuelan woman who learned to dream despite any circumstances. If you had asked the little girl Moly if she would model in the future, she probably would have said, “Nope, a model is not what I meant to be.” This answer came from a very shy heart. It wasn’t that I didn’t like the idea, but for a girl who grew up thinking she wasn’t “beautiful enough,” it probably seemed impossible. Funny story: a few years later, the fashion industry found me when I wasn’t even looking for it. This world inspired me, and I’ve learned so much from it. Beauty comes in all shapes, colors, and races, and that is, of course, BEAUTIFUL! I had the opportunity to be the cover model for two magazines and to participate in websites, commercials, runways, and beauty pageants. I wanted to give people the power I felt working as an artist, and that’s when “You Pose” came into being. You Pose is a studio offering a variety of workshops for models and new faces in the industry from a self-love perspective. My first workshop was in Venezuela, and now I have the opportunity to continue doing what I love in Orlando, FL.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Accounting, and I speak English, Spanish, and a little Portuguese. To me, family is everything, and they taught me well. Education, dreams and goals, respect for nature, and having something to believe in are what you need to make your life an unforgettable journey. It hasn’t been easy, but I’m excited to see what’s next!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Changes are the biggest challenges of growing up. Definitely, being an immigrant changed the chemistry of my brain. Leaving my family for five years, when they are the world to me, leaving my dog, my house, and everything I know for an adventure I wasn’t sure about was definitely a big deal. Some family members got sick, and the only thought in my mind was, “I need to work harder so I can help even more.” Struggling with a different language—these are just a few examples. On the brighter side, I’m grateful for all those changes. Everything I had to face made me the woman I am today. I’ve met great people, embraced new traditions in a beautiful country, and believe it or not, I feel wiser than ever, even though I’m just 26 years old. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still learning; it just has made me appreciate life even more. It’s about the little things we live for: love from people, the laughter of friends, the smell of my mom’s coffee, and those hugs that will last forever.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I think I’m known for my great sense of humor… Just kidding! At the moment, I’m working as an accountant, modeling, acting, leading workshops with my “You Pose” team, and creating content for social media. If there’s one thing I’m proud of, it’s my curiosity. I love to try everything: food, hobbies, exploring new places, drawing, learning new languages—you name it. I believe that curiosity is what connects with my creativity. There’s so much to discover in this world, and being alive is the best opportunity you have.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If you want to join the world of modeling, you need to connect, go out, meet new people, use social media for good, and connect with those who share your dreams. We are all in this world together for a reason. Take the chance because it’s not easy, and you won’t succeed without support. And, of course, stay humble.
