Meet Morgan Layne of Kissimmee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Layne

Hi Morgan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My story starts with a deep need to express myself and make sense of the world around me. Growing up, I always turned to music as a form of escape and understanding. I started writing songs as a teenager, not really knowing where it would take me, but feeling like it was the only way to truly be heard.

When I started seriously pursuing music, it was less about perfection and more about honesty. My first album was about being vulnerable, letting people see the parts of me I used to hide, and finding healing through that process. Over time, I’ve grown—not just as an artist but as a person. My sound has evolved to reflect that journey, moving toward themes of empowerment and reclaiming my story.

Today, I feel like I’m in a place where I can own who I am. My music is my way of sharing that growth with others, showing that it’s okay to be vulnerable, to struggle, and to find strength in it all.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and honestly, I don’t think it ever is when you’re chasing something meaningful. One of the biggest struggles has been self-doubt—wondering if I’m good enough or if people will connect with what I’m trying to say. Early on, it was tough to put myself out there, especially when the music felt so personal.

Another challenge has been navigating relationships while staying true to myself. Some people come into your life and inspire you, while others make you question your worth. Those moments have been tough but also necessary—they’ve taught me a lot about boundaries and self-respect.

Financially and emotionally, there have been sacrifices, too. Balancing my music with work and personal responsibilities hasn’t been easy, but every challenge has shaped me. Those struggles are part of the reason my music feels so real—they remind me of what I’m fighting for.

Through it all, I’ve learned that growth isn’t always pretty, but it’s always worth it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work is all about storytelling through music. I specialize in creating songs that are raw, emotional, and honest. I want my music to be a space where people feel seen and understood, especially when they’re going through tough times. I’m known for blending vulnerability with empowerment—it’s a progression you’ll hear across my album series, starting with emotional openness and moving toward self-discovery and strength.

What I’m most proud of is staying authentic to myself. Every song I write comes from a real place, and I think people connect with that because it’s genuine. I’m not afraid to tackle heavy emotions or share personal stories because I know those moments are what make us human.

What sets me apart is the way I approach growth. My music isn’t just about pain or triumph—it’s about the messy, complicated journey in between. I want people to feel like they’re growing with me, like we’re all figuring it out together. That connection is what drives me, and it’s the heart of everything I do.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest advice for anyone just starting out is to be patient with yourself and the process. It’s easy to get caught up in comparing your journey to others or wanting instant results, but growth takes time. Focus on creating something that’s true to who you are, not what you think people want to hear or see. Authenticity is what will set you apart in the long run.

Another piece of advice is to be prepared for rejection and setbacks—they’re part of the process, not a reflection of your worth. Use those moments to learn and grow instead of letting them hold you back.

Something I wish I knew when I was starting out is that it’s okay to ask for help. You don’t have to do everything alone. Find people who believe in you and your vision, and don’t be afraid to lean on them. Also, don’t rush to have everything figured out—some of the best things come when you give yourself room to experiment and grow.

Most importantly, enjoy the journey. Celebrate the small wins, stay true to your purpose, and never forget why you started in the first place.
