Meet Moses Hall of MoHall Commercial & Urban Development

Today we’d like to introduce you to Moses Hall.

Hi Moses, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As a child growing up in a run-down apartment building in the Bronx, New York to transition to a stable community in Queens, New York. That gave me the drive and focus to want to build other communities through commercial real estate. Growing up in the environment that any parent wouldn’t want their child to be in.

My parents had the desire and vision to save up to buy a piece of the American Dream, which is home ownership.

After residing in Queens New York for 18 years. I transitioned to Chicago, Illinois to obtain a college degree. Upon graduation. I realized that there was no one hiring in my field of choice. I realized I had to take control of my own destiny, which led me to transition to real estate in 2014. After working for several firms and learning how to conduct basic real estate transactions. I decided to branch off and start MoHall Commercial and Urban Development. We are a full-service commercial real estate brokerage & development firm.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There is no such thing as a smooth road in entrepreneurship. As a business owner, there are many challenges that arises that I must overcome. Working in commercial real estate there are many factors that may hinder progress and growth. With rising interest rates, inflation, supply chain issues, and increase in construction cost my company has had to adjust and pivot to still thrive in this market. It’s always important to know how to shift whenever you are faced with challenges.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Funny little tidbit I actually have a background in the performing arts. I grew up playing piano and so I’m originally from New York and if you’ve ever seen the movie fame, that was what my high school was based off of.

I studied jazz performance and the reason I mentioned this tidbit of my life is because I started to get interested in real estate while I was in high school. That was kind of during the phenomenon of when we had reality shows started to go crazy like flip this house and something of that nature. That was during the real estate booming you know that was the circa I was in high school between 2004 – 2007. Also, I’ve seen a lot of my family and peers and church members get into real estate and so it piqued my interest.

Because I knew people that were appraisers, agents, and inspectors.

So, I have been able to combine my love for commercial real estate and music business.

I also launched my own music publishing and music catalog company called MoHall Music Publishing. We are dedicated to investments in revenue-generating music copyright assets.
