Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Abramson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was the poster child for “you’ve got to get good grades in school, so you can get into a good college, so you can get a great job… so you can work really hard, and then enjoy your life later”. I did what needed to be done, working crazy hours in the Corporate and Public Accounting worlds in Boston and NYC for 20 years. After facilitating the sale of the company I was CFO for, I was burned out. I agreed to work with a friend and ended up starting my own company… having a flexible schedule, doing something I loved and was finally enjoying my life… all of it… not waiting to enjoy it later or only enjoying moments of it. Now that I figured this out, I help my clients have this as well.
I now am a Success Coach, serving overwhelmed small business owners who are stressed about how to get everything done, not making enough money in their business, or can’t take time off for fun so they can have BOTH a Thriving Business and a Fun personal life they love. I am grateful that I can make such an impact on their lives. I truly love all my clients and get as excited as they do (sometimes even more than they do) about their successes. I am also a Photographer, a Master Scuba diver and an ocean lover.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, and I embrace those challenges as they were important lessons for me to learn, and now I am able to teach others from those lessons so they don’t have to struggle like I did. One of the struggles was not getting the right help when needed and feeling like I had to Do it Myself. The NY girl in me didn’t want to show weakness by asking for help (which I now know is not weakness!). I also incorrectly thought doing it myself, even if it took me longer was better than spending money for someone else to do it. You can always make more money but you can’t make more time! I now have a better appreciation for and value on my time.
Another lesson I learned was to embrace my skills and gifts and being more careful about who I take advice from. There is a balance between taking courses and programs because they will teach a needed skill vs. registering for too many of them, not taking the time to apply the lessons being taught, and hoping the next one will be “the thing” to make the difference. I am now much more selective about who I give my time and money to.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a small business owner, feeling overwhelmed is expected and wearing so many hats as the CEO, the Marketing VP, Copywriter, Photographer, Bookkeeper and Admin… whew is enough to send anyone into a tailspin. I’m pretty sure your vision when you started, was to have a thriving business, being able to spend time with family, Vacation to a beautiful spot on your bucket list. Instead, you often work long hours, going through the motions, don’t enjoy your time off because there’s too much to do.
It shouldn’t be like that! At Empowered With Nancy, we help you have a Thriving business and time for Fun, self-care, family and travel! Coaches are not just for achievement in Athletics. You can choose to Do-It-Yourself, or you can partner with me to achieve profound and lasting results you wouldn’t get otherwise or in a fraction of the time.
I work with my clients 1-on-1, and after understanding how they define success and what results they want to have, I help them achieve those results. I also offer a variety of Masterclasses specializing in time management, goals achievement, growing your business and how to get paid faster for the services you provide. I am so proud of my clients that not only survived the effects of the shut down due to covid, but thrived and grew during it!
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
After living in NYC for so many years, I didn’t expect to love living here as much as I do. I have an amazing community of extraordinary people, the winters are far better down here, and there is so much to do. I used to go to live concerts all the time and look forward to that resuming, gorgeous beaches (and being here, I go to both on the east coast and west coast just as easily), and as a passionate photographer, there are so many places to go to take pictures. It is great being in a place with the shopping, the culture and nature all so close. What I like least about living here is I-4 traffic!!

I loved learning more about Nancy here. She hosts events for entrepreneurs that I will join once my schedule opens up. I’m proud to be a personal and professional acquaintance and wish her more success!
