Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Cordone.
Hi Natalie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Shawn and I met fourteen years ago while performing in the Tony Award winning musical *Baby* in Winter Park. We spent weeks singing together, making each other laugh backstage, and, thanks to the set design, even sharing a bed onstage every night. Somewhere along the way, we realized the chemistry we had as performers was something worth exploring beyond that production.
We began creating our own shows, blending close harmonies, storytelling, and plenty of humor. Our first original production, *Hooray for Love!*, led to our first national touring show, *The Start of Something Big: The Music of Steve and Eydie*. From there, our work has taken us to audiences from Orlando to Las Vegas, Miami, Chicago, New York, and beyond.
Along the way, we’ve been fortunate to perform with outstanding organizations, including the Orlando Philharmonic, and those experiences have only reinforced our belief that audiences connect most deeply with performances that feel personal as well as polished.
That philosophy inspired us to launch Cordone & Kilgore Productions, where we create original concert experiences that celebrate great music while telling the stories behind it. Whether we’re exploring the legendary entertainers of *Vegas, Baby! Hits of the Headliners* or the journey of songs from Broadway to Hollywood in *Stage to Screen*, every show is built around one goal: helping audiences rediscover music they love through fresh eyes and live performance.
Coming back to perform *Stage to Screen* in Winter Park feels especially meaningful. It’s the community where our artistic partnership began, and sharing this new production with a live band just a few miles from where we first met makes it feel like we’re coming full circle.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road, but some of the challenges have led to the most creative moments in our journey. The biggest disruption came during the pandemic, when our performance contracts were suddenly put on hold and theaters around the country went dark.
Like so many artists, we had to rethink how we could continue connecting with audiences. That led us to create our podcast, *Live! with Cordone and Kilgore*, where we could share conversations, music, and stories with listeners even when we couldn’t be together in a theater.
That experience reminded us that the heart of what we do isn’t just performing. It’s creating connection. Whether it’s a podcast, a concert with a live band, or a full theatrical production, we’re always looking for ways to bring people together through music.
The challenges have also made us more intentional as producers. Building our own company has required us to be artists, entrepreneurs, and problem-solvers all at once. It’s not always easy, but it has been incredibly rewarding to watch ideas that started as conversations become productions that audiences can experience live.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At the heart of what we do is create concert experiences that bring together powerhouse vocals, sophisticated arrangements, storytelling, and a healthy dose of humor. We specialize in celebrating the music audiences love, from legendary entertainers like Steve and Eydie to the iconic songs and stories that have shaped Broadway and Hollywood.
What sets us apart is the combination of our voices and our chemistry. We met performing together 14 years ago, and that partnership has become the foundation of everything we do. Audiences often tell us that they feel like they’re spending an evening with two friends who just happen to be performing at a very high level.
We’re especially proud that we’ve been able to create original productions that have grown from ideas into full-scale concert experiences presented around the country. Seeing a concept develop into a show with incredible musicians, and then watching audiences connect with it in real time, is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.
With *Stage to Screen*, we’re exploring the incredible relationship between Broadway and Hollywood through the songs, stories, and artists that have captivated audiences for generations. Featuring a live band, the show celebrates beloved music from both the stage and the screen while sharing the stories behind the songs and the moments that made them unforgettable.
Ultimately, we want every audience member to leave entertained, inspired, and feeling a deeper connection to the music they love.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
The best advice we can give is to approach networking as relationship-building rather than simply making connections. The strongest relationships we’ve built in this industry have come from genuine conversations, showing up consistently, and finding ways to support others.
We’ve been fortunate to have mentors, collaborators, and colleagues who have opened doors for us, but many of those relationships developed naturally over time. Sometimes a mentor is someone who gives you advice, and sometimes it’s someone whose work ethic, creativity, or generosity inspires you to grow.
We also believe that you don’t have to wait for someone to hand you an opportunity. One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned is the importance of creating your own path. When Shawn and I started developing our own productions, we weren’t just looking for a chance to perform. We were building something we believed audiences would value.
For artists especially, we encourage people to be curious, be generous, and stay connected to their community. Attend performances, celebrate other artists’ successes, volunteer when you can, and be the kind of colleague you’d want to work with. The relationships you build along the way often become the foundation for future opportunities.
