Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicolle Castro.
Hi Nicolle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I moved to Orlando, Florida in 2016 when I was 16 years old, leaving behind my home country, Barranquilla, Colombia. As soon as I arrived, I started studying English and later enrolled in the paralegal program at Valencia college. At the same time, I was working full-time. I had all kinds of jobs, retail, server, cleaning, office work, babysitting.
At that point, the only close family I had in the U.S. were my sister and cousin, and I lived with them. But I quickly realized that working full-time while studying full-time was just too much. So, I made the tough decision to drop out of school.
What really pushed me to try working for myself and eventually build a business was a friend of mine. I had started decorating for birthdays my sister’s, friends’, even my bosses’and I genuinely enjoyed it. One day, my friend said, “Why don’t you open your own business?” That stuck with me. I named it LIMITLESS.
It’s funny now, but back then I thought just opening an Instagram account was enough to make it happen. I was 18 and honestly believed it would be easier than working all those jobs that never really fulfilled me. But I was wrong. Having your own company is even more work.
The journey was messy some days I didn’t want to do it at all, and others I felt like this was going to work. Along the way, people like my fiancé and family kept encouraging me to push through. Eventually, I rebranded the company and realized I wanted to do something different, something that reflected all the rapid changes happening in the world, especially with social media and technology.
That’s how Glee Concept was born. At first, it was just an event planning company focused on corporate events. The process wasn’t easy. When you’re starting out, you think taking every job is the way to grow. But over time, I realized I wanted to focus on helping companies grow strategically, how they can use events and brand activations as powerful tools in their marketing campaigns.
Today, Glee Concept focuses on working with wellness companies that want to grow their businesses and create lasting memories for their clients through meaningful experiences with their products and services.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think there are my struggles when building a company. It’s scary because you don’t want to fail, invest and then realize you might been doing it wrong or that a decision wasn’t the right one. Also, I believe working for you business meanwhile you have to work on something non related while you to start holding yourself with you own company is tough too. Keeping yourself in track. To not give up and try to find the right places where your company belongs.
Also, it’s lonely sometimes, focusing on growing and building it’s not only lonely when doing it but in the industry where you are sometimes you’ll find yourself trying to get help but everybody is focused on their own path too. So for everyone is different.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At Glee Concept, we want to grow, build, and take a brand or company events to another level, so their clients can truly connect with and remember their brands. Events are more than just a moment; they are also an expression of brand identity that sets a company apart from all others.
I’m most proud of how we keep growing and continue creating new ideas for each company we work with. We understand that every event is a chance to represent our clients and also learn from them.
What I believe sets us apart from other companies is our focus on innovation. Even if we’ve done the same type of event multiple times, there’s always something new and refreshing added, so the experience reflects the current stage of growth the company is in at that moment.
