Hi Nikkia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
REFLECTING…As a little girl, I had a recurring dream. In the dream I saw a store within a mall. I couldn’t see all the items, but I could see an array of colors illuminating the store. Fast forward to 2020, the year that we experienced a global pandemic and the world shut down, my vision was stirred. For Mother’s Day, I wanted to do something different for the special women in my life. I wanted to give a gift that would speak. They have so many shoes to fill and I wanted to give them a shoe that would provide comfort and exude glamour. From there, I started searching for a slipper that embodied those elements. When I couldn’t find it…Glitzy Bitz was created.
What began as an idea, soon became a reality. There were several components involved and it has taken the efforts of others to help build it. To trust others with something God gave you can be scary. There are many thoughts and ideas. Some work and some don’t. There are many things that have been accomplished but there is more planning and preparation needed for the other things that will come.
As I reflect, I’m reminded of the vision that was once imagined. I’m grateful for the moments I prepared for and those I wasn’t ready for. To “see” what was once “seen” is a testament of the power of a dream and… I’m still dreaming.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road. There have been many challenges but some of them faced were:
-fear
-product sourcing
-lack of resources
-conveying a message to consumers for sales
-brand visibility

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
The thing I’ve learned from the crisis is to be flexible. Things won’t always go as planned, learn how to make adjustments, change your perspective about the details and focus on accomplishing the goal.
