Today we’d like to introduce you to P Butta.
Hi P Butta, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started not knowing much. All I knew was that I wanted to make music. Now I’m here today more polished and knowledgeable. It’s been a heck of a journey, I can tell you that. But I’m grateful none the less.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely was not smooth. Had to learn the ropes and then had to pay my dues. Started off honing my craft and making sure I was good enough to compete. About the time I went to college, that’s what really defined me. I would work part-time just to get by because school would take up a lot of my time. Aside of that, I didn’t have any form of transportation at that time so I had to get a bike. I would ride that thing til the wheels fell off. Literally. With Florida being so hot and raining unpredictably, it was hard to stay prepared. Later ended up getting a car but it was unreliable and would constantly need maintenance. Then life and its obstacles will always get in the way. The biggest hurdle I had to endure was the passing of my father in 2018. Two weeks after my birthday and a week before Christmas. It was a life-changing experience. Those are a few of my struggles I’ve endured throughout my time on this earth.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am VP of Animal Houze but an artist first. I specialize in music, hip hop to be exact. As far as music, I feel I’m known for my performances. They usually stand out more than any of my other strengths. I’m most proud of the recent years I’ve had with music. Performing at Orlando’s first indie music festival called Supr Fest, collaborating with hip hop legend Mickey Factz and being able to throw my birthday concert three years in a row. I feel what sets me apart from others is originality, confidence and self-awareness.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the weather, women, food, activities to do in the city and other things.
The thing I hate about the city is the traffic. It gets so bad at times. Especially with the infamous I-4. Smh.
