Today we’d like to introduce you to Phi Nguyen.
Hi Phi, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Began my career in Aesthetic Medicine 13 years ago by working for a well-known plastic surgeon in Lake Mary. He was opening a Dermatology Center at the time and put out an ad looking for a Doctor of Dermatology. I responded to the ad, and when they asked me why I responded to an ad for a doctor when I am a Physician Assistant, I responded that if they are looking for a Doctor, he or she will eventually need a PA. Because of this, they hired me before they found/hired the doctor, and I helped start the Derm Center. This was my 1st job out of PA school, and I learned a lot during that time because I was in unique position of helping start up the practice (writing the consent forms, setting up the exam rooms, creating treatment packages), and I also trained under the #1 Provider of Botox in Central FL, at the time, who was the practice’s Non-surgical Aesthetic provider.
Following my time there, I embarked on the next leg of my career, working for one of Orlando’s Top plastic surgeons. I worked for this surgeon for 10 years, and during my time there, I served as the lead Aesthetic Provider in the medspa and also became a trainer for Galderma Aesthetics, where I was able to share my love and knowledge of Aesthetics with my fellow colleagues in the industry.
It was a Golden time in my career. However, 3.5 years ago is when all of this changed for me. I became a Mommy to my amazing son, John Loc (JL). Suddenly, those long hours of working until 7:00p, and charting through my lunches because I was so busy I didn’t have time to eat, and training gigs lost it’s luster. My career wasn’t the most important thing to me anymore. It was now my Family, and I felt like I was missing out on my son growing up. At the same time, I had worked very hard to get to where I am in my career and didn’t want to completely give that up. Then an opportunity arose for me that seemed to be an answer to my problems. A salon suite, located 5 minutes across the street from my house in College Park, had a vacancy. The rent was cheap, it allowed me to make my own schedule so I wouldn’t have to miss out on all those little moments anymore with JL, and the cherry on top… I never have to drive on I-4 anymore! I questioned whether or not I would be able to do this. I was scared to leave what I knew for the last 10 years and start this new journey, but I did it, with the love and support of my husband, Jay Juvenal.
A year later, Aloha Aesthetics is absolutely thriving! The business grew a lot faster than I could ever imagine. We are now a team of 3, my husband, Jay, who serves as CEO and the brains behind the operation, my wonderful Office Manager, Heather O’Bryan, who is the gate-keeper of Aloha and makes sure that I have both shoes on the correct feet, and myself, the aesthetic provider and just a Mom who wanted to figure out how to balance work-life and Mom-life. We are a practice that specializes in delivering safe, beautiful, natural results that whisper.
Summer of 2026, we hope to move into our new space, in a new development called Minnesota Row, located in Winter Park/College Park area, so that I can continue to serve my existing patients. At that time, we hope to add on more providers, preferably women who also want careers but feel their most important job is being a Mom.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a new business is never easy, and while I expected the usual challenges—long hours, tough decisions, financial pressures—what surprised me most was the emotional side. Some relationships shifted in unexpected ways, and I had to learn to let go of certain connections that no longer aligned with my path. It was a tough but valuable lesson. In the end, it helped me build a strong, supportive circle of people who truly believe in what I’m building.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an Aesthetic Physician Assistant. I have had 13 wonderful years in the industry, where I have been both student (training under some of the most-reknowned experts in the industry) and mentor/trainer (serving as trainer for Galderma Aesthetics). I am best known for my natural-looking results, in particular lips, which is one of my favorite and most widely requested procedures I perform. Aesthetic medicine is where art meets science, and my medium is the syringe. I have always been artistic, and this affords me the ability to be creative and create “pretty things” that make people happy.
At Aloha Aesthetics, we focus heavily on bioregenerative aesthetic medicine, which basically uses the body’s own healing and regenerative capabilities to restore youthful appearance, by producing collagen an elastin, improving the skin’s health and rejuvenating tissue. We favor natural, biocompatible products and technologies, including biostmulators like Sculptra, Ariessence, exosomes, PRP/PRF, and treatments like microneedling and Derma PRP Gel. This approach gives our patients longer-lasting, more natural-looking results.
I am most proud of the impact and long-lasting relationships I have built with my patients over the years. Unlike typical medicine, aesthetic medicine allows me to see my patients, sometimes every 3-4 months, for their treatments. This allows me to connect with my patients on a very deep and personal level. There is a unique trust there that is afforded only to the person who is holding a needle and in charge of your face. It is happy medicine and my patients are excited to be there. Because of this, my patients have become like close friends over the last 13 years. When these friends of mine enjoy their results so much and tell their friends or family about me, that makes me extremely proud.
One question I always ask my new patients is how they found me/heard about me. The majority will say they were referred by someone who enjoyed their experience and results at Aloha or that they did extensive research for a provider and opted to go with me based on my wonderful Google reviews. The fact that my patients take the time to write those awesome reviews that come from the heart, makes me extremely proud and lets me know that I am doing something right.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Anything worth having is worth fighting for. Don’t listen to the outside noises. Persevere. Stay focused. In a few years from now, you’ll be glad you did it and be stronger for it.
