Today we’d like to introduce you to Qiana Miles.
Hi Qiana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Qiana Miles, a singer, songwriter, and performer from Dayton, Ohio. I moved to the Orlando area in 2012 to complete my Master’s degree in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University. I became a full-time entertainer gaining work around the Orlando area, from the theme parks and local theater to different production companies for corporate bands. With time, observation, hard work, and getting to know others within the performing community , I began to develop a name for myself. I’m at the point now where everyone knows me as the Disney performer. I’m now ready to reintroduce myself as Qiana, the artist.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. Many know within the entertainment industry, you’ll find lots of obstacles and hardships but only the strong survive right? I’ve built my performing success thus far on faith in God, determination, and a love for what I do. The arts in general holds a special place in my heart so I make it my charge to show people how healing and rewarding it can be. I’ve been told “No” numerous times but, it doesn’t compare to the many times I’ve been told yes! Everything has a season, and I embrace every closed and open door because it’s all setting me up for what’s truly for me and my purpose.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I perform full time at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in a familiar show called Festival of the Lion King. I also perform at EPCOT with the Voices of Liberty.
Outside of theme parks, I am an R&B artist and songwriter. I love R&B music and always have since I was a little girl. It holds majority of the roots to my musical background, outside of gospel music.
I currently have two original singles and a Christmas cover out on all platforms to purchase and stream. I’m releasing an EP on March 18th titled, “New Wave”. It’s definitely an R&B vibe and is my vocal declaration of me as an artist and songwriter. This EP covers the many facets of love, from self-love to romantic love all while embracing this transition of life that I’m in. Embracing a new wave of living, thinking, dreaming and believing.
What makes you happy?
What makes me happy, is performing my own music. I love performing covers and singing music of my favorite artists, however, there’s nothing like being able to tell your own story in your own way. I love sharing the stage with other artists and musicians who share a love and respect for music and the gift within others. I’m the happiest performing in front of an audience and getting that chance to connect with people whom I’ve never met, but after the show we feel like family. That’s the power of good music.
