Today we’d like to introduce you to Rafael Riobueno.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m a Metallurgical Engineer that has been working in the construction area for more than eight years. I worked on demanding projects for Disney, Universal, Orange County Convention Center, Orange County Public Schools, Bush Gardens and a lot of residential projects. Every single day one different person told me that I knew a lot and I could make my own business but I was afraid of the customers, providers, labors… there is a lot to consider when you are starting a Construction Business but during the pandemic (2019) my old Boss told me…”We need you to run a project in Texas if you can’t then we need to let you go”… I never thought that after all my hard work they could do that to me. I took that as a signal to start doing my own thing, to work harder for me, my dreams and my family. I started on September 2019 and we haven’t stopped! Since the very first week, we have been booked for many renovations and it doesn’t stop. I can tell that when you work the right way taking care of your customers and your quality, your opportunities are huge. It is a bless to be part of this Dream that is becoming true!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a challenge to satisfied every single customer since pandemics, all the materials, lead times and labor availability have been hard to schedule and find but there is no obstacles when you have a goal.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Construction Project Manager that also takes care of the field. I love to be part of the construction process and it is my responsibility to accomplish every single milestone that we establish during the construction schedule. My people trust on my knowledges because I always tell them that there is a solution for almost everything and most likely we always find it!
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Absolutely, I learned that there is no obstacles when you are determined to accomplish your dreams. Also, I realized that family is the most important thing in life, no matter how hard you work, time to share with your family is essential, you never know when is gonna be the last time you can be with them.
