Meet Ramiqa Hopewell of Mental Note Life Coach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ramiqa Hopewell.

Meet the Mental Note Life Coach

Ramiqa was born and raised in Louisville, KY and was the youngest of four siblings. Ramiqa graduated in the highest group of students in high school and moved to Florida where she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science/Min in Pre Law at Florida Agriculture and Mechanical University (FAMU). At the age of 23, just three months after graduating from college, Ramiqa tragically and unexpectedly lost her mother. The experience of losing a parent was very traumatic. It was the first time Ramiqa experienced feelings of depression, pain, uncertainty, and grief.

Ramiqa suffered the same emotions 18 months later after her father suffered a stroke and passed away. Feeling like she must be strong for her journey in life, Ramiqa learned to put a smile on her face to show others she was healing during a tragic time. Ramiqa then met Cameron, who would eventually become her backbone through the hardest ache and pain of losing both her parents just 18 months apart. Eventually, those hard and painful memories of her parents’ passing were replaced by amazing memories that included getting married, growing with companionship, starting a family, and raising two amazing boys that reflect memories of their grandparents which have passed. Over 12 years of marriage, Ramiqa and her husband have worked hard to create a foundation that would include compromising, understanding, loving moments, respect, and honoring each other in life.

During the growth of their marriage, Ramiqa and her husband Cameron have worked hard to play a strong role in the community. Together, they work with their family’s business to manage daycares and thrift store. Managing businesses and homeschooling for the family can create challenges but it has allowed the family to adjust, prioritize, and learn by growth. Ramiqa’s husband understood the need to invest into her education and worked night and day to make it happen. Professionally Ramiqa decided, when she was 25, to return to school to become a mental health therapist while being a first-time mom and working as a political director. Ramiqa worked in crisis hospital units while completing her program. In 2012, Ramiqa graduated from Webster University and moved to another state when her husband had the opportunity at a Charter School. Ramiqa was able to work as a Crisis Counselor and transitioned to the Program Director within eight months of working with the program.

Four years into the position, again, Ramiqa was faced with a traumatic experience from the job that forced her to drop current load, rebuild vision, and relocate states.

Since then, Ramiqa has worked with children and young adults to focus on stabilization and assisting them with short-term and long-term goals. With her years of experience, life training, and passion, she became more than qualified to assist others along your journey in life. In 2018, Ramiqa saw the need to create a space where labels did not define a person. A place where clients would not be afraid or ashamed to engage in the one on one experience. This would allow an opportunity to work with someone in a different dynamic and perspective. Mental Note Life Coach was established. Over the next two years, Ramiqa and her husband Cameron worked hard on developing the space and tools needed to make this opportunity possible. Ramiqa has been able to plant seeds and assist many throughout their mental journey towards goals. No matter what the need, Ramiqa can direct you in the right area. Are you ready to start your journey?

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Mental health can be hard to promote to others. It’s not something you can physically see, it’s a feeling. The terms “therapy” and “counseling” have been triggers for us along the way. Mental Note Life Coach was created to allow others to let their guard down and work on what truly matters, mental balance. This journey includes a lot of bumpy roads. A lot of events where no one showed up and my husband was the only person present. Many sessions that were pro bono to show others how to show others their mental health is important. Understanding someone’s needs and conscious of their resources. Carrying the loads for others while still needing enough fuel to have for my husband and children. I’m thankful for the growth over the years because these bumps allowed me to work on balance through these experiences.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am known for PLANTING SEEDS ON OTHERS AND WATCHING THEM GROW. My goal is to always spread positive energy when others may need it. Life can truly be overwhelming at times. We all need the opportunity to take a pause, review, reflect, then react. What makes me MOST proud is my family! Every piece of business we touch is linked to our family and of the community. My husband has been such a tremendous support as the business has grown over the years. Cameron allowed my growth to happen naturally by providing the space, motivation, and encouragement along the way.
