Today we’d like to introduce you to Reece Prospero.
Hi Reece, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was always the girl growing up who had her hands in some family members hair, obsessed with the fact that you could change someone’s outwards appearance in such a short amount of time. And in that change of appearance, big or small, could grant that person a whole new level of confidence within themself. The daily interaction with my clients and the shift I see in them leaving my salon space is the biggest reason why I feel so blessed to call myself a hairstylist.
I went to cosmetology school right out of high school at my local state college. In Florida you need 1200 hours to graduate and test for your license. I did this within a year’s span and then hit the ground running. I was introduced to my first salon space as a commissioned stylist to get my bearings and then a year and a half later started renting my own chair within that salon. I worked as much as I was in demand as I was addicted to the craft. Year after year my clientele began to grow, and I knew it was time to try and scale my business. I purchased a commercial property at the age of 24 in 2024, life’s pieces were falling into place. With amazing support of my family and my significant other, Ocean Aura hair Co. came to life.
I am looking forward to sharing more about my journey and the details with Orlando Voyager…..
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I try and view life from a glass half full perspective. As there were small bumps in the road along the way, none were significant enough for me to deter from my vision.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a hairstylist/cosmetologist/beauty professional. All meaning the same. I most recently have become a business owner. My salon space provides an environment for professionals of many different beauty disciplines to have the opportunity to work their business within my business. I also have the option of working alongside me as an extension of my clientele. I personally specialize in women’s colors, cuts, and extensions. I also am a national educator for the color brand that I use exclusively called Duomo. I have the amazing opportunity to teach other stylists and salons the breathtaking results of the color line.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see the industry to continue to grow and thrive in the digital space like social media. The way that Instagram has influenced and help my business grow has been imperative to the trajectory to my career.
