Meet Ruby Mabry Muriel Bissainthe of Altamonte Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruby Mabry Muriel Bissainthe.

Hi Ruby Mabry, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We are originally from Brooklyn, New York, 1st Generation Haitian Americans. We come from very loving and Christian household and are a tight knit family. We grew up singing in the church and had a very strict upbringing coming from a Caribbean household, which we wouldn’t trade it because of the morals, values and love that we received.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
(Muriel) No, It has not been a smooth road. One of my struggles along the way was being in a Domestic Violence marriage, divorced and raising my children alone. Being abused has caused me to be very selective in who I date & bring around my children. It has also created a fear of Narcissistic men. (Ruby) No it has not been a smooth road. I have always been a quiet/introverted person since I was a child. I unknowingly had mental health issues for 37 years before finding out I had any disorders. It has impacted and continues to impact my life daily by having anxiety, panic attacks, negative self talk, doubt and fear. Therapy helped put a lot of these thoughts in perspective.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
(Muriel) I’m a TV Host, Executive Producer, Healthcare Professional, Licensed Cosmetologist, Best Selling Author, Domestic Violence Survivor/Advocate, Speaker, Community Advocate & an Entrepreneur.

I have been in the Medical field for over 30 years, dealing with the day to day operations in a medical office environment setting. Providing a smile & a heart full of compassion for each and every patient that walks through the door.

Just one smile will help change someone’s mood if they are not feeling their best.
I enjoy speaking at events sharing my journey on how I made it with 3 young children & how I’m still standing.

What sets me apart from others is I’m very ambitious, hardworking, loving & bubbly (I never meet a stranger).

(Ruby) I am the Chief Executive Officer of two mental health facilities for over 20 years where I am the voice for the voiceless. I provide a warm and loving shelter for the individuals I serve, assist them with activities of daily living that so many take for granted and provide training daily until they can grasp the concept in order to help them live a productive life.

They feel we are helping them, but in the end, they are helping us. My work is very rewarding and I and my staff take it seriously. I am a very strong advocate on their behalf and I treat them as if they were my own family. I am proud of the work I do and truly love the clientele I serve. My joy comes from helping any one in need and making a difference in their lives.

I am known for giving back, being a community advocate, mental health advocate/survivor, International best-selling author, speaker, executive producer and television host.

I am most proud of being able speak up after 37 plus years. People die in silence every day. I am also proud to co-host a show even though it is a weekly struggle due to my disorders. What happened is that it forced me to push towards the fear and step out of my comfort zone. My breakdown became my breakthrough and even though I am extremely uncomfortable, I am able to co-host a weekly television show, speak at different events and go out to more social events, which is, for ME, a complete transformation from where I started. When doing these things that make me uncomfortable, I am healing the hidden things that affect me daily. Healing from the inside out.

What sets me apart from others is that I have an extremely compassionate heart, x10. I am driven, professional, authentic, loyal, comedic, charismatic, classy, stylish, full of integrity and spread lots of love and positivity.

I am in a league on my own. I am not a follower, but a leader and that’s what makes me unique and special.

We are both proud to be Executive Producers & TV Hosts for: Let’s Talk About it, The Candid Conversations Show with Muriel & Ruby.
What sets us apart from the rest is having conversations on real topics that are unspoken & taboo in our communities. Such as Mental Health, Domestic Violence, Health & Wellness, Self Love, Self Worth etc…
The mission is not about us. It’s about raising awareness, eradicating stigma and improving our physical, emotional and physiological health.
We are Real sisters sharing real stories within our community.

How do you think about luck?
We don’t consider it Good or Bad luck. Prayer, Hard work and Discipline has played a tremendous part in our journey.
