Hi Samantha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My husband Stephen Holvik and I started Lunar Studio in 2017 to turn our passion for photography into a viable business. Like most new photographers, we would photograph anything we could get hired for, learning quickly what we wanted and did not want to do. Towards the end of 2019, we found niches to sink our passion into fully. I discovered my love for providing luxurious boudoir experiences, and Stephen found his joy in seeing our clients’ most authentic selves through headshots and portraits. Stephen also specializes in branding sessions, and we are currently getting ready to launch a food and product photographer. Photography should be far more than pictures; it should be an experience. We provide this experience in several different ways. For example, for boudoir, my clients are pampered from head to toe with professional hair and makeup, over 350 pieces of lingerie, Christian Louboutin red bottom heels, stunning custom albums, and so much more! For three years, our community has selected us as the Daytona Beach News-Journal’s Best of the Best Winner. We largely credit our success to always staying true to who we are, providing an exceptional experience, and our involvement in our community. We also believe in being a “team.” We couldn’t do what we do without our incredible support system and all the talented individuals we work with.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Overall, looking at the big picture, our journey has been relatively smooth. There has never been a time when we doubted ourselves or our business. We’ve accepted Everything we have faced as a lesson to be learned, and every struggle has been nothing we couldn’t overcome. We’ve had a fantastic support system through our family, friends, and clients.

We are a full-service luxury photography studio in New Smyrna Beach. We specialize in boudoirs, headshots, branding, and food and product photography. Our studio provides each client with the tools they need to prepare for their session, a style guide or consultation, professional hair & makeup services, complete printing services, and so much more! Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
There’s not one specific memory but rather all of the memories of traveling with my parents – Samantha
