Meet Sandra Hincapie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandra Hincapie.

Hi Sandra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I immigrated from my home country Colombia 15 years ago with a baggage full of dreams to start a family with my husband, Marcos. I always had a passion for teaching, the reason why I have dedicated several years to being a Teacher of lovely children. However, I also had a passion for arts and crafts and making others feel loved. This feeling kept lingering on the back of my heart until two years ago, I had the desire to bring that passion into my own business and that is when Giving with Love was born. What started as a hobby slowly became a way of bringing happiness and love to others, something that has always been within my core values. Since then, I have met wonderful people, have witnessed amazing moments, created smiles and touched multiple hearts. I still continue to dedicate my time to teaching at the same time I grow my own business, help the community and inspire people to always pursue their dreams. When you fight for what you love, anything is possible.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been definitely a bumpy road. Having a full-time job as a Teacher and wife restricts the time I would like to dedicate to the work with Giving with Love. Every single gift/meal is crafted with all the love and attention it deserves and it has to be personalized. This demands time to research the correct items, materials and words of inspiration, and finding the time after a long and stressful day of work is not easy. However, when you love what you do, you keep showing up and you make it happen. Getting my business to be known out there was also challenging. People was used to gifting standard items based on brand or popularity or simply based on convenience. Giving with Love brought a personal touch that was not very popular and it took time to spread the awareness and take a position within the community. Now that people knows it, they love it and embrace it in a way that they share their experiences which helps to bring new customers.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a teacher by vocation. I have worked with kids in preschool ages for more than 20 years. My creativity, love and care for my children have always been the stamp of my work. It is very rewarding knowing that those families of students I took care of many years ago still remember me and keep in touch. Some of them are very successful young adults. It brings so much joy knowing that I contributed in a positive way to their success and growth. That same stamp is what I dream of doing with Giving with Love. As a Teacher doing arts and crafts is part of my daily job, and that creativity has translated now into my business, and is having the same effect it had on my students. It is leaving a footprint of joy, and dedication that is making this initiative stand from the crowd. Our mission on this earth is to leave a positive impact on others.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I always remember the meals and sleepovers at my grandma’s house. She lives in this country-style house, with beautiful flowers and nature sounds that made it so magical. She put lots of love into every meal and made it feel so unique for each one of us. I think with time. I came to realize that at that time, she was planting the seed of what I am today.
