Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandrelly Soto
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I graduated from the Aveda Institute in 2022, and while in school, I had the opportunity to assist master stylists, gaining hands-on experience in blonding and extensions. From there, I stepped behind the chair, continuously learning from every stylist and client I worked with.
Education has been the foundation of my journey. I’ve invested in advanced courses specializing in extensions, blonding, and curly cutting—three areas I was passionate about from the very beginning. My goal was always to refine my craft in these specialties and eventually work independently in a salon suite. Today, I’m proud to say I’ve achieved that dream.
The journey hasn’t been easy, but every challenge has been worth it. And this is just the beginning—I have big goals for the future, and I’m excited for what’s next!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely wasn’t easy. I started this career a little later than most, which came with its own set of challenges. Leaving a stable job with steady pay, PTO, health insurance, and retirement benefits to pursue a career in hairstyling was terrifying. The uncertainty of it all made the transition even harder.
The biggest challenge, though, was the mental aspect. In the beginning, I put a lot of pressure on myself and struggled with self-doubt when things didn’t go as planned. Learning to give myself grace and trust the process was a huge part of my growth. Despite the challenges, I wouldn’t change a thing—every struggle has shaped me into the stylist I am today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a hairstylist specializing in blonding, extensions, and curly hair. My passion for education has shaped my career, allowing me to refine my techniques and provide clients with low-maintenance, luxury results. I’m certified in both the Cadō and Rëzo curly cutting methods, which help me tailor each cut to enhance natural texture.
What sets me apart is my commitment to creating a customized experience for every client. Whether it’s a seamless blend of extensions, the perfect blonde shade, or a curly cut that truly complements their natural hair, my goal is to help people feel confident and empowered.
One of my proudest accomplishments has been growing my career to the point where I now work independently in a salon suite—something I set out to achieve from the very start. The journey hasn’t always been easy, but every challenge has made me better at what I do. I’m excited to continue evolving, learning, and helping my clients feel their best!
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I’m uncertain about the future of the industry, but I’m hopeful for its evolution. I believe that new stylists should receive more inclusive and comprehensive education. Additionally, I hope that assistant programs focus on practical training rather than just making them perform salon chores. Furthermore, I hope that healthcare and insurance become accessible and affordable, rather than being considered luxuries.
