Today we’d like to introduce you to Sasha Shamsuzzaman.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am originally from New Jersey but grew up in the Orlando area. Something I missed about New Jersey was going to authentic restaurants. I remember first moving to Orlando and noticing a lot of chain restaurants but I’ve noticed the diversity in restaurants these past few years. I’ve always been a big foodie. Growing up in a biracial household and having a mother that is a great cook definitely made a big impact on that. I always loved trying new restaurants and dishes, I would love to take pictures of my food but never imagined actually posting them. I had my personal Instagram account until I started actually posting my food pictures and noticed my engagement improving. I remember discussing my thoughts about opening an actual foodie page with my coworker who happens to be a lifestyle blogger. With her encouragement, I decided to turn my personal page into an actual foodie page. I deleted my personal pictures and changed my handle to sashaspots. I started getting following from other foodies in the Orlando area and actually being able to meet them in person at certain events. I love that the foodie community is very welcoming. I am glad I get to engage with so many people online not just in Orlando or the US but other countries as well. It also feels nice when someone tries a restaurant and enjoys it because I recommended it. I am currently working on growing my Instagram and TikTok accounts. I would also love to open an official blog page or a YouTube channel.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been challenges along the way even until this day. Trying to gain followers is not that simple and the engagement can be tricky. There are good days and bad days but I have been trying to stay consistent. Trying to maintain a foodie page is a second full-time job. The biggest obstacle I’ve been facing and trying to keep my figure while doing this foodie thing. I have gained a lot of weight during the pandemic and trying to work out is my biggest challenge currently.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love being a foodie and getting to share my experiences with my followers. Capturing a beautiful picture of an amazing dish that a talented chef has prepared is art. Majoring in Fashion Design and actually being able to draw and paint, I would say this is the most dedicated type of work I’ve ever done. I am proud of my journey and that I am continuing on this path. I also love to cook at home and try to experience with new dishes so it’s inspiring to try different dishes from different restaurants. I mostly like to focus on the food so my picture and videos are based on that but I also like to show people that I do enjoy what I eat so that’s why I post short mukbang videos on my Instagram stories of me actually eating the food I take pictures of. I want my followers to enjoy the experience with me.
How do you define success?
Success is being able to accomplish your goal. If you’ve achieved a goal that you have set then you are successful.
