Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Johnson
Hi Scott, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always loved sports. As a child I played football, baseball, swimming, etc. At age of 10 I was introduced to gymnastics. I instantly fell in love with the sport. Soon I dreamed of becoming an Olympian. From the age of 13, all my focus and energies was focused on achieving my dream. In 1984, I achieved that dream- not only becoming an Olympian but winning an Olympic Gold Medal. I now run my own gymnastics business in Central Florida with operating 3 locations: Winter Springs, Lake Mary, and Altamonte Sprngs.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing comes easy on the road to success. There are many challenges along the way and some failures. As an athlete and now a business owner, I have learned that failure is a good thing. If you learn from your mistakes, you have a much better chance of succeeding.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Scott Johnson’s Tumble & Gymnastics Academy?
As an Olympic Gold Medalist, I have found that there needs to be higher standards in training fundamental gymnastics and tumbling skills. It is through this developmental environment that creates the path for each student to maximize their abilities and grow in higher skill levels.
This recreational environment does not focus on preparing students for competition but focuses on giving each student the skills needed to reach the goals they desire. Whether the student has future gymnastics ambitions, cheerleading ambitions, dance, or simply want to enjoy the sport of gymnastics and tumbling- the TGA Experience is a great steppingstone for these ambitions.
The simple philosophy I use to create the success that TGA has developed:
“A person is only going to succeed in something that they love to do.”
It is this philosophy that has catapulted me to achieve Olympic Gold status. Through this mind-set, the TGA Experience has created an environment centered around positive and constructive training measures in a fun and energetic environment.
