Hi Scott, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello,
I am the owner and operator of 3 Orlando businesses. Echobase collectibles that is a vintage toy store and a destination for any collector. The toy store is curated with all of the best toy lines from the 80’s and 90’s. You can find toys such as Star Wars, TMNT, MOTU, Lego, and GI JOE. Inside of Echobase you will also find Rebel Reprints that is a full service art reproduction print shop. Specializing in high quality stickers, and Giclee prints. We work with lots of local artists and businesses, while also having an online portal for customers all over the world. Rebel Reprints is for people that want to support other artists that understand what high quality image reproduction is.
Lastly, the whole reason I moved to Orlando was to open a tattoo shop with my business partner Scott White. We opened Rise Above Tattoo 14 years ago to offer customers a high quality and clean environment for all your tattoo needs. I specialize in Japanese American imagery and large scale tattoos.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Last year we were faced with our hardest challenge yet. We had someone drive their car through the front of Echobase and destroy half of our store. This put us out of business for 3 months and killed a lot of our inventory. Reopening was pretty much like opening a brand new business again, working around the clock. We came back better than ever with a new floor layout and cases that we are very proud of.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My works has always revolved around anything creative. Hence the tattoo shop, print shop and toy store. They are all different, but yet they all came together to serve one purpose-artists and creative individuals. I first owned the tattoo shop and there was a missing need within the industry for printing needs which I filled opening Rebel Reprints. While Rebel Reprints was opened we had an empty room in the front with non purpose. I wasn’t sure what to fill it with and one of my good friends recommended putting something there that I love! Well I have been a collector of vintage toys since I was. kid, so opening up Echobase just seemed like a natural step. This its how the 3 different business came to co-exist.
