Today we’d like to introduce you to Sera Taíno.
Hi Sera, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always written, from as long as I can remember. I didn’t begin trying to publish until about 2016 when I wrote the draft of what would become my debut novel, A Delicious Dilemma. I now have two more novels coming early 2022. I was selected for the Harlequin Romance Includes You Mentorship, an initiative launched in 2019 to reach out to diverse communities of writers and bring more own voices stories to romance readers.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest obstacles involved those of a personal nature – juggling the demands of being a full-time parent with the second job of being an author.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Sera Taíno writes romances exploring the joy of love in the context of community and family in all its rich diversity with an emphasis on inclusiveness.
I am at my best when writing about love and the communities within which love occurs. I endeavor to be inclusive in my stories and create romances where everyone has a chance to be happy.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’m not the biggest risk-taker but I believe taking risks can lead to great outcomes. I took a chance to submit my story to The Write for Harlequin, Harlequin Includes You mentorship and it won, it was published last year in September 2021. Sometimes you just have to try something. You never know where you might end up.
