Hi Shandruckia/Christine, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Thank you so much for the opportunity to be featured in your Hidden Gems series. We’re truly honored that Boujiidolls Boutique was recommended, and we’re excited to share our story with your readers.
We deeply appreciate platforms like OrlandoVoyager that highlight and support local Black-owned businesses. Our mission has always been to help people not only look their best but feel their best, too. In addition to our physical location, we also operate an online store at (http://boujiidollsboutique.shop), which allows us to connect with and serve a broader audience.
A little about us—we’re two sisters from Orlando who grew up in difficult circumstances, navigating life without the support of our parents. Despite those challenges, we stayed focused and determined to build something meaningful. Boujiidolls Boutique was born in 2019, starting from the trunk of a car. That small start grew into a storefront, and today, we’re proud to operate from a commercial space as well as online.
Our current building was once a barber shop, but with hard work, dedication, and faith, we transformed it into the boutique we envisioned. Everything we’ve built has been self-funded, and we’ve poured our hearts and energy into bringing Boujiidolls to life. We want others to know—if we can do it, anyone can.
This is only the beginning for us, and we’re excited to see what God has in store. Thank you again for the opportunity to share our journey.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
“One of the key challenges we faced was bringing the store together while sourcing the right products. It required extensive market research, supplier negotiations, and careful product selection to align with our brand identity and meet customer expectations. Balancing quality, cost, and availability proved to be a complex but essential task in laying the foundation for a successful launch.”
