Today we’d like to introduce you to Shantaebeus H.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Shantaebeus but I go by “Tae” which is a nickname I was given since a toddler. How I started wanting to do nails is an interesting story. In 2018 I remember sitting in my room watching different videos on how to do a full set, while watching the videos I became intrigued, and then a weird but good feeling came over me and I felt something in my gut that made me feel like this was something I wanted to do. The first person I ran to tell was my dad. I was so excited about it when I told him and so I sent him a link to a basic nail kit that I wanted so that I could start practicing. My dad is always so supportive in any and everything I want to do and he could hear the excitement in my voice, so he went and ordered the kit. When I received the kit, I did nothing else but practice! I learned everything I knew then and now from YouTube videos until I decided to finally go to nail school this year in 2022. How I got to where I am today was staying consistent, asking other nail techs questions on things I needed help with & finally attending an actual nail school & also more practicing. I am always eager to learn different techniques to perfect my craft. I knew this was something destined for me because I am self-taught myself and it just seemed to come easy. I love it!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a rocky & smooth road but when you are determined to learn you have to take the good and the bad because, in the end, it’ll all be worth it. Some of my struggles when I started were learning to apply acrylic the correct way and also learning to shape the ball correctly. These two I must say have been a run for my money but I stuck with it. Patience is the key, I think when you want to learn something so bad you try to rush it, but once I took it slow… I got it! Another struggle was getting my name out there and growing my clientele. This was definitely not easy because trying to get people to trust that you know what you are doing in this industry is hard, so at first, I charged a cheaper price to gain trust and allowed my clients to become my advertisement. We all know growing clientele isn’t easy in any field, but it is harder in the field of beauty, however, things did finally become smooth after a year or so of doing nails but it took time. When I finally gained a steady loyal clientele, I was able to charge what my work was worth.
We’ve been impressed with KlawedByRosegold, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed Nail Technician that specializes in Manicures, Pedicures, Nail extensions, nail art, and nail designs. What sets me apart from others is my work is original, my designs are unique and you receive a one-on-one private session when you come to me or when I come to you…. yes, that’s right, I am also mobile! I treat my client’s dignity, integrity, and respect. They don’t just come for an appointment, they come for an experience when they choose me to service them. I am most proud of my acrylic application, shaping, and designs. My brand is distinctive because this isn’t something I do just for work I do it because I love it! Every stroke of my brush, every design I create, and every hand I bless is done with love and perfection. I offer a variety of different styles from short to extra-long from designs or just polish, from charms and bling plus much more. Most importantly, I offer my gift to help put a smile on my client’s faces before they leave my presence!
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
The advice I would give to any upcoming nail tech is to stay consistent! Don’t give up if your work isn’t like any other popular nail techs, it is good to stand out and be different. Have patience, get your acrylic application & nail shaping down before moving into doing different designs or styles. Study other tech prices so you’d know how to price your sets, that is one thing I wish I knew before starting out. The best way to gain clientele is to offer specials so that your client can become your advertisement. Most importantly always believe in yourself, especially when others doubt you, and use them negatively as a key force to drive you to get better!
