Today we’d like to introduce you to Tathiana Novaes.
Hi Tathiana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
During college, I started interning at a production studio that did everything from fashion shows and magazine covers to beauty campaigns and print ads. I absolutely loved the atmosphere—that semi-controlled chaos filled with creativity. I did a bit of everything, from casting to the final product, and ended up working there for years. That’s when I realized: the 9-to-5 life just wasn’t for me.
Years later, I went back to school to study Art Direction and started working in TV. We did pilots, music videos, shows… another form of beautiful chaos.
As an art director, your job is to make sure every element—location, wardrobe, set design—tells the same story. It’s like building a visual language where everything speaks in harmony.
Fast forward to me living in the States: I had a baby and wanted a job with flexible hours. Photography had always fascinated me—I had done everything involved in putting a shoot together except actually pressing the button.
I started with portrait photography, but I kept meeting business owners whose branding photos just didn’t reflect who they were. There was such a disconnect. That’s when I zoned in on branding photography—before it even became “a thing.” I’ve been doing it now for over 10 years, and I still love helping people visually align their business with who they truly are.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s never a smooth road—but honestly, that’s the beauty of it. You grow through the ups and downs. In the beginning, my work was more of a passion project, a creative outlet. But after going through a divorce, everything shifted. Suddenly, this wasn’t just something I loved—it had to support me and my kid. That was a turning point. It was game on. And here we are.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What are you known for?
I’m known for branding photography—and only branding photography. I won’t photograph your kids, your event, or your drunk uncle at your wedding. But I will absolutely transform how you see yourself and your business.
What are you most proud of?
I get to photograph a lot of badass women—business owners, industry disruptors, creatives.
And often, they show up carrying self-doubt, judgment, or just not feeling their best. But my goal is always the same: I want them to leave full of themselves. Proud of what they’ve built. Ready for world domination.
The right photoshoot can shift how you see yourself. It rewires your confidence, elevates how you show up, and transforms how you approach your business.
That energy? It changes everything.
If you think this is just about taking pictures… you haven’t met me yet.
In a nutshell:
I want to give every badass woman the confidence of a mediocre man.
No shade to men—honestly, good for them. I just think it’s time we level the playing field.
What sets you apart from others?
I’ve yet to meet another brand photographer with my mix of fashion and TV experience. My background as an art director is the foundation of everything I do—it’s why my branding photography looks and feels the way it does.
My fashion roots make me think of every image as a potential magazine cover, while my art direction ensures that every detail—wardrobe, setting, mood—is cohesive and intentional. It’s not just about taking a beautiful photo; it’s about telling a story that’s stylish, strategic, and 100% aligned with the brand.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most is leaving an impact on every person I photograph. Most of my clients are repeat clients. They become friends .I see their business grow, their confidence skyrocket, and for women especially—I want them to feel unstoppable.
Why?
Because I’d like to buy a villa in Italy and disappear for three months. Is that too much to ask?
