Today we’d like to introduce you to Treston Mayo.
Hi Treston, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am a videographer, content creator, and director. I am originally from Omaha, Nebraska. I moved to Orlando, Florida when I was around five years old. Went to school mostly in the Orlando area and eventually moved back to Omaha my junior year of high school. I graduated in 2012 and went to play college basketball at Grace University in Omaha, Nebraska. There I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 2016. After college, I struggled to figure out the next steps but knew I wanted to something with Marketing because I loved to create new ideas to help showcase businesses. I decided to buy a camera because I didn’t have a portfolio or experience. When I bought my camera, I fell in love with the creating process of editing pictures and video. I locked myself in my room and studied many tutorials I found on YouTube. I also want to thank the mentors I met along the way in my journey of becoming a content creator. I started my journey as a content creator in the summer of 2017 and began developing into more of a director as the years of experience and different projects came into play. I am now focusing more on directing and storytelling because I want to leave my mark in visuals and making a positive impact in other’s lives. My production business is called M.Bitions V.O.Y.S. Productions and the acronym V.O.Y.S means ”Visions of Your Success.” My goal is to continue to grow with the team of other creators I have built a network with and produce projects that are timeless.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Struggles and challenges I endured in the beginning were finding a job once I moved back to Florida. Many jobs ask for experience in my field and because I was fresh, I didn’t have any to give. I challenged myself to put myself out there, create my business, and start building a portfolio. The struggle was being a naturally introverted person, so I enabled myself to get outside my comfort zone. Being outside my comfort zone allowed me to network and meet a lot of people who helped me grow along the way. Being a videographer is expensive because equipment doesn’t come cheap. Because I built a network of people, it allowed me to still grow because I would outsource work to those who have better equipment and still make a profit together. I realized that in order to be a successful entrepreneur and creator, I had to think more collaborative than competitive in this field. Some people are good at what they do but struggle with selling themselves. Some people are good a selling an idea but may need additional resources to make the idea come to life. I realized that I was able to sell ideas and use other sources to make that idea come to life. This allowed me to not always purchase the latest and greatest equipment because I knew the network I developed over the years allowed me to scale more and now we can create projects together. The biggest challenge for myself and best advice I can give is to use tools that keep you organized. Make a to do list everyday, and do whatever it takes to give the best customer service you can. This business I believe is based 70% on the relationship and 30% on the talent. Talent improves with every new project, the relationship is something that keeps the project improving and builds more relationships.

M.Bitions V.O.Y.S. Production is a video, photo, content creation, marketing, graphic and web design company. We are different from others because we have a wide range network of editors and other creators that stretch throughout the United States. What I am most proud of is the relationships the business has built over the years that has allowed me to work full time as an entrepreneur in doing something I love. M.Bitions V.O.Y.S. Productions is a company who primary wants to create to make things look better and give off a great message through visual storytelling. A picture can tell a story, a video can make that story real.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Characteristic I feel that are most important to my success is remaining humble, authentic, and genuine. Having a great relationship with is very essential for my business.
