Meet Tyler Albers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Albers.

Hi Tyler, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Ever since I was a child, I was always fascinated by filmmaking, and I knew that, in some capacity, I wanted to make films that told great stories. So I began making little short home movies as a child with an 8mm camcorder. This continued on all the way through until I decided what I would do in college. Once accepted into UCF, I chose to purse getting my degree in film. I enjoyed being able to work on short films, writing, directing, filming, editing, etc… I was even able to perform various roles on larger-scale productions that took place in the Orlando area. In the meantime, I found a job as a video editor for a local production company, which mainly focused on corporate marketing videos, event videography, and wedding videography. I learned the ropes on how to edit and film through my journey within the company. I then split from the company to pursue my own side-business, where I had more creative control over the content I created. So the journey of Ty Albers Videography began back in 2010. It’s been a long journey of building up my business and honing in on my craft but have enjoyed being able to work on a variety of types of filmmaking, from corporate marketing, documentaries, real estate videography, and of course, wedding videography.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I cannot lie, the last several of years have definitely had their ups and downs. The struggle of owning a side-business while working full-time to keep my business afloat was always a tough balance. I would often work on a wedding film while on my lunch breaks at Apple, which is where I had worked for 4-5 years, and then would work on weddings before and after going to work. Also, due to the nature of filmmaking, video gear can be very expensive, so it took quite some time to either save up for essential items and at times I even take out business loans to try to get off of the ground as best I could.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in telling stories. In any capacity of filmmaking, that is what I strive for, whether it be an advertisement for a company, selling a lifestyle for a house, or sharing a couple’s love story. I am very proud of my wedding films. I treat each couple and wedding film as a unique individual story. Not all weddings and couples are exactly alike, they all have their own stories and backgrounds, which makes them different. I aim to capture the couple’s essence and turn around and create their wedding film in a way that showcases their unique characters and feels like they’re watching a movie of themselves.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I am big nerd and have always been. Regardless of the sports I played or took part in growing up, and even in my adult years, such as basketball and skateboarding, my true self was a film enthusiast, soundtrack loving, coffee aficionado, Lord of the Rings super fan, and all around video game and comic book nerd.
