Meet Valleri Ames of Angel Eye Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Valleri Ames.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story really begins long before I called myself a photographer. I’ve loved taking photos for as long as I can remember, especially of the outdoors. Growing up, I was always drawn to light, color, and the way certain moments in nature could make you stop and just breathe it all in. Photography was something I enjoyed on and off for years, but in 2023 I decided to truly commit to it. What started again as a hobby quickly grew into a passion that I wanted to share with others.

My love for the outdoors has always been at the heart of my work. I’m inspired by everything from golden sunrises and dramatic skies to quiet forest trails and the movement of water. Traveling, whether across the state or across the country, gives me the chance to experience new landscapes and capture their unique moods. Sometimes I plan trips specifically to photograph a location I’ve dreamed about; other times, the most memorable images come from spontaneous detours.

Over time, my work has been shown in multiple group exhibitions across Florida and even in my first solo show at a local coffee house. Each experience has not only built my confidence but also deepened my sense of purpose as an artist — to offer viewers a moment of peace, wonder, and connection through my images.

I’ve been influenced by artists like Thomas Kinkade, whose warm use of light reminds me of my mother’s love for his work, and Clyde Butcher, whose breathtaking landscapes inspire me to honor nature as it is. My style leans toward realism, keeping scenes true to what I experienced in the moment, with only subtle refinements to enhance their natural beauty.

Today, I’m still exploring, still learning, and still chasing light — but with a clearer vision. My hope is that when someone views my work, they feel transported, even if just for a moment, and reminded of the beauty that surrounds us every day.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Being new to the art world comes with a steep learning curve — from figuring out how to present my work professionally to understanding the business side of selling images. There’s also the reality that there are so many incredibly talented artists out there, and it can feel overwhelming to find your own voice and place among them.

One of the biggest challenges has been turning a passion into something sustainable. Selling photography isn’t just about creating beautiful images; it’s about marketing, building relationships, and finding the right audience — all while staying true to your artistic vision. In the beginning, it was easy to feel discouraged when sales didn’t happen right away or when opportunities felt out of reach.

But every small win — a gallery show, a kind word from a viewer, a single print sold — has been a reminder to keep going. I’ve learned that growth in this field takes time, persistence, and a willingness to keep showing up, even when it feels like progress is slow.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My business, Angel Eye Photography, was born out of my lifelong love for capturing the beauty of the outdoors. I specialize in nature and landscape photography, with a focus on scenes that convey peace, connection, and a sense of place. My work stays true to what I see in the moment — I don’t heavily alter my images — which allows each piece to reflect the authentic light, color, and mood of the scene.

What sets me apart is the personal connection I have to the landscapes I capture. Many of my photographs are taken during intentional trips I plan around specific locations and seasons, as well as in spontaneous moments when the light or atmosphere is just right. I want my viewers to feel as if they are standing there beside me, experiencing that same moment of awe or stillness.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that my work has already been featured in multiple exhibitions across Florida and in my first solo show, even though I’m still early in my journey. Every image I create is meant to not only decorate a space but to inspire a pause — to bring a bit of the outside world in, and to remind people of the beauty that surrounds them.

For readers, I want them to know that my work is available as fine art prints, both through exhibitions and directly online, and that each photograph is crafted with care from the moment I click the shutter to the final print. Angel Eye Photography is about more than images — it’s about sharing the serenity, wonder, and emotional connection that nature offers.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I owe so much of my progress to the people who have supported me from the very beginning. My family, friends, and my fiancé have been my biggest cheerleaders — encouraging me to keep going even when the road felt uncertain. They’ve been there to celebrate the wins, no matter how small, and to remind me of my purpose when I’ve doubted myself.

From helping me prepare for shows, to offering honest feedback, to simply believing in my vision, their support has been the foundation that’s allowed me to keep growing as both an artist and a business owner. Knowing that they are proud of what I’m creating gives me the motivation to keep pushing forward and sharing my work with the world.
