Meet Vasti Sanchez of Vasti’s Sweet Shop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vasti Sanchez

Hi Vasti, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I left Puerto Rico in 2006 to pursue my dream of starting a cake business, but fear got the best of me. I took many courses to prepare myself and they all helped me. I became a mother and put my dreams aside. Now, my children have grown up, so I decided to follow my dream. I started to do what I like. Seeing a happy customer is my best satisfaction. When, I’m not making cakes, I’m in the gym helping others exercise. I like supporting others. This is not just my business; it is my passion.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There has been many highs and lows in my business. I love to go from market to market to sell things, but there are times where I sold nothing and felt like giving up. I continue to push through because I love the community and environment that surrounds me. I enjoy meeting new people and selling my sweets.

As you know, we’re big fans of Vasti’s Sweet Shop. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I sell sweets and baked goods. My sweets includes custom cakes to 6 oz cookies. I offer a variety of other baked sweets, like banana bread, apple pies, and brownies. I also offer a variety of rice krispies and cakes. I am able to make a custom cake that you desire. My space is sanitized and I have an area dedicated just to baking these sweets. I enjoy spending time on doing what I like and I feel very blessed that many trust me in making their deserts.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
To those who want to start out a business, I would tell them to stay focused on their goals and not to give up when times are tough. Know that God has a plan for you and things will come your way eventually as long as you work hard enough and put your heart to it. There are many ups and downs to creating and running a business, but just because there is a day where things don’t go the way you planned out does not mean you failed.
