Today we’d like to introduce you to Vickie.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Lots of people plan events, but for me, it’s never just about logistics — it’s about bringing people together with love. My gift is turning life’s special moments into unforgettable celebrations that truly reflect the people being honored.
It’s always been about the people — never about me or proving what we can do. I love creating something that feels like a reflection of my clients, combined with an experience their guests can take in with all of their senses. What does their event look, feel, smell, taste, and sound like? Every detail matters.
My favorite part of any event? Honestly, it’s watching parents finally relax and enjoy their child’s wedding or Quinceañera after months, sometimes years, of planning. Seeing moms and dads dancing, laughing, and living in the moment — instead of stressing over details — that’s when I know I’ve done my job. That’s what fills me with joy.
My story didn’t start in the event world. For over 20 years, I built a career in administration — first as an Administrative Assistant, then in Executive Administration at my church in Bradenton, Florida. That experience taught me how to manage complex projects, meet difficult deadlines, stay flexible, lead with grace, and remain calm under pressure. These are the same skills I now channel into every event at Events by V.
Our portfolio is as vibrant as it is diverse: weddings, Quinceañeras, Sweet 16s, bridal showers, retirement parties, baby showers — you name it, we’ve probably planned it. But what truly makes our events stand out isn’t just the décor or design. It’s the heart behind them.
Behind every dream is a team — not just any team, but the BEST. My crew came together through our church in Wauchula, a small group of friends who shared my passion for people, community, and excellence- Dianna Obregon, Rosa Ramirez, Alexis Garza, Rebeca Huron, Isabella Benavides, Pedro Aviles, Ashley Trevino, Mariesol Aviles, and Maricela Aviles. We realized we all had the same heart for using creativity and organizational skills to serve others. Now, that energy and care goes into every single event. We give it 100%, every time.
Whether designing a wedding under twinkle lights or creating the scene for a milestone celebration, we approach every event with the same philosophy: it’s not just about décor or timelines, but about creating a space where joy truly lives.
The heart of Events by V. traces back to a piece of advice my dad gave me when I was fifteen:
“Vickie, when you serve someone, do it as if you’re doing it for Jesus. Then your work will flow from a place of love and care.”
Those words became the foundation of how I live, how I treat my team, and how I treat each client. They are my guiding principle — the seal of Events by V. At the end of the day, our work isn’t just about throwing a beautiful party. It’s about honoring people, creating connection, and celebrating life in all its most beautiful moments.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, running a business isn’t without its challenges. Some of my struggles have come from navigating “power struggles” — for example, a mom or aunt who is hesitant to release control, or working with other vendors who may not approach the event professionally, especially if they’re just family friends. Part of being an entrepreneur is earning respect, and sometimes it’s hard for others to relate if they haven’t built a business or brand of their own.
Being a woman in business comes with its own set of challenges. There are times when people underestimate your expertise or question your authority simply because of your gender. I’ve learned to trust my knowledge, stand firm in my decisions, and lead with both confidence and grace.
As a Hispanic business owner, I’ve also had the growing opportunity of translating everything into Spanish — from contracts to in-person client and vendor communication. I’ve always wanted families feel fully understood, respected, and included. Language should never be a barrier to creating the perfect event- it does require care, attention, and dedication.
I’ve also worked to challenge certain stereotypes about Hispanics, like the misconception that we are often late! At Events by V., we are punctual and finish every event on time. We pour our hearts and energy into every detail, setting a standard of excellence that speaks for itself. Our dedication and professionalism are something we take immense pride in.
We’ve been impressed with Events by V, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Personally, I have been exploring how Virtual Reality technology can transform the wedding experience. Many people miss celebrations due to common barriers like time, cost, or health concerns and traveling out of state. With VR, guests from anywhere in the world can feel fully immersed in the event, experiencing the sights and sounds of the celebration from the comfort of their own homes. It’s an exciting way to make weddings more accessible and inclusive, ensuring that no one has to miss life’s most important moments. I believe that within the next 5-10 years we will have that figured out and be able to offer that to our clients.
