Today we’d like to introduce you to Vonda R. Parker.
Hi Vonda R., we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
VMAX For One Community Inc.’s Art of Fashion program was born out of a deep commitment to empowering youth through creative arts. The idea started with my Founder, Max Parker Jr., and me, drawing from our unique backgrounds—his in law enforcement and mine in event planning and community development. We saw a need in our community to create a space where young people could explore their talents, gain confidence, and develop real-world skills.
We officially launched Art of Fashion to merge fashion, creativity, and professional development. The program introduces youth to various aspects of the fashion and creative arts industries, from runway modeling, character/acting, visual merchandising and fashion design to branding, public speaking, and entrepreneurship. Our goal has always been to not just provide an outlet for artistic expression but to equip young participants with lifelong skills that build confidence, discipline, and a sense of purpose.
Throughout the years, we’ve partnered with local organizations, fashion professionals, and community leaders to give our youth hands-on experiences, mentorship, and opportunities to showcase their talents. We’ve hosted fashion shows in state and out of state, workshops, and training sessions that allow participants to engage with professionals and gain industry exposure.
Where we are today reflects our passion, the support of our community, and the dedication of the youth involved in the program. We are continuously expanding, finding new ways to reach and inspire young minds, and ensuring that Art of Fashion remains a platform for creative expression, personal growth, and career exploration.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any meaningful endeavor, the journey of building Art of Fashion has had its challenges. From the beginning, we knew we wanted to create a program that was impactful, sustainable, and accessible to youth in our community—but getting there required persistence and problem-solving.
One of our biggest challenges has been securing funding and resources. As a nonprofit, we rely on grants, sponsorships, and community support to keep the program running. We often had to be creative in stretching our resources, sometimes funding initiatives out of our own pockets or partnering with like-minded individuals who believed in our mission.
Another challenge has been reaching and retaining youth participants. While many young people are eager to explore fashion and creative arts, they often face personal or socioeconomic barriers that make consistent participation difficult. We’ve worked hard to build a supportive environment where they feel encouraged, valued, and motivated to keep coming back.
Additionally, navigating partnerships and collaborations hasn’t always been smooth. Finding the right industry professionals, mentors, and volunteers who align with our vision and are committed to making a difference takes time. We’ve learned that quality over quantity is key when building a strong network of supporters.
Despite these hurdles, every challenge has been a learning experience that has made us stronger. The rewards—seeing young people build confidence, develop skills, and find their passions—far outweigh the struggles. The parents that sacrifice each week to assure their creative arts student are in class and on time. These acts keeps us committed and determined to growing Art of Fashion and continuing to impact lives, no matter the obstacles.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Max Parker Jr. has dedicated his life to service, leadership, and community impact. With 30 years in law enforcement, retiring as a Commander and Deputy Chief of Police for the Leesburg Police Department, Max built a reputation as a leader who not only enforced the law but worked to bridge the gap between the police force and the community. His career spanned multiple roles, including uniformed officer, detective in property crimes, Academy recruit advisor, and overseeing covert operations targeting street crimes and drug-related offenses. He is also an FBI Academy graduate, a distinction that highlights his commitment to excellence in law enforcement and leadership.
Now, Max continues his passion for mentorship and youth development through VMAX For One Community Inc. and the Art of Fashion program. He specializes in guiding young people to recognize their potential, develop discipline, and build skills that will serve them in the future. His ability to connect with youth, instill confidence, and provide structure has made him a respected mentor and role model.
What sets Max apart is his unwavering commitment to making a difference beyond his badge. While many know him for his law enforcement background, his true impact lies in his dedication to uplifting the next generation. He understands the importance of second chances, personal growth, and structured opportunities, which is why he founded Art of Fashion—to give young people an avenue to explore their creativity while developing real-world skills.
Max is most proud of the lives he has influenced, both in law enforcement and now in youth mentorship. Whether it was guiding officers during his time in the police force or now shaping the futures of young participants in Art of Fashion, his legacy is built on service, leadership, and community empowerment.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The COVID-19 crisis was a defining moment that taught us resilience, adaptability, and the importance of community support. Like many organizations and businesses, VMAX For One Community Inc. and Bella Faire Event Productions faced challenges due to restrictions on gatherings and in-person interactions. However, instead of seeing these limitations as roadblocks, we saw them as opportunities to innovate.
One of the biggest lessons we learned was the power of flexibility. We had to pivot quickly—shifting some of our Art of Fashion programming to virtual platforms, finding creative ways to keep youth engaged, and rethinking how we connect with our audience. The pandemic reinforced the importance of having multiple ways to deliver impact, whether through digital workshops, small group mentoring, or interactive content.
Another important lesson was the value of relationships and community. During the crisis, we saw how crucial it was to lean on partnerships, support systems, and collaboration. Whether it was working with local businesses, securing resources for youth, or finding alternative ways to help clients with event planning, we realized that strong relationships are the backbone of sustainability in any industry.
On a personal level, the pandemic reinforced the need to slow down and be intentional. It reminded us that success isn’t just about being busy—it’s about making a real impact, prioritizing well-being, and focusing on what truly matters.
While COVID-19 brought many hardships, it also strengthened our ability to adapt, deepened our commitment to our mission, and prepared us to be even more innovative moving forward.
