Meet Wayne Buhler of Century 21 J.W. Morton Real Estate, Inc.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wayne Buhler.

Hi Wayne, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started working at Century 21 J.W. Morton Real Estate, Inc. when I was 15. I cleaned the office after hours to save money for my first car. Then, during the high school summer, I worked the front desk position and later learned how to write commission checks and manage our company’s essential expenses. Once I graduated High School, I attended the University of South Florida to become a lawyer. I was accepted at Stetson Law School but was not fully dedicated to becoming a lawyer anymore, so I took the Real Estate Sales Associates course and obtained my real estate license. I began my real estate career at Century 21 J. W. Morton Real Estate, Inc. I was fairly successful in my first year as a Realtor; however, I decided I no longer wanted to have a long-distance relationship. I moved to Athens, GA, and became a racecar mechanic. I enjoyed the field for a year, and then the manager position became available at Century 21 J.W. Morton Real Estate, Inc. At this point, I had married into the J.W. Morton family as Jim and Karen Morton (broker-owners of the company) became my mother and father-in-law. They accepted my application to be manager at the company, and this was in November of 2017. We have now been the number 1 brokerage in our county for the last 5 years running and the number one Century 21 office in Florida in closed transaction count.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I started the management role, I was 24 years old, so my age was a struggle for some people. I overcame this by showing my hard work ethic and devotion to this business and our agents.

Thanks for sharing that. Could you tell us more about your business?
We are one of the longest-standing Century 21 real estate brokerages in Florida. We have been in business for over 44 years. We have 83 hard-working, dedicated agents that serve Citrus and the surrounding counties.

What matters most to you?
I am seeing others grow. I love training and teaching my brand-new agents up to my most successful agent. Seeing the lightbulb moment go off in their head gives me purpose for my job, and I love it.
