Today we’d like to introduce you to Wes Beacham.
Hi Wes, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My family and I started HOPE Church six years ago. My wife Diana and I have been married for 16 years. We have four kids, Hope, Tripp, Selah and Judah. We started the church with 30 friends, and now over 300 people call HOPE Church their home.
Since I was 15 years old, I know I wanted to be a pastor. I graduated high school in 2000. I graduated from Bible College in 2004. I was a youth pastor in Jacksonville from 2004-2007. I was an associate pastor from 2007-2015 in Orlando. Then we started HOPE in 2015.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. Starting anything is hard work. Things take longer than you think, and they cost more than you think. People that we thought would stay and help us forever didn’t stay. Finding a location that would allow us to meet every week was another challenge that we were able to overcome.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
One of the things I am known for is my ability to love and connect with people really fast. I like being with people. I like getting to know them, their story, what they like and what they dislike, where they are from, what they do, what their family is like etc. People want to be loved, and one of the best ways to love someone is to get to know them and their story.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
The thing that makes me the most happy is helping people. Seeing them progress in the right direction, seeing them accomplish their goals and dreams.
